Like underdogs? Like 'the little guy'? This is the place. Talk about Ma and Pa, as far as I know, the only mechanics are Al & Terry (husband & wife) and Tim (their son). I stumbled on their shop by accident when I thought it was a different shop maybe 8-10 years ago. They are the most honest mechanics I've ever come across, and I've gotten out of there spending almost nothing. Don't let the name of the place fool you. They fix transmissions of course, but they'll repair any car, do it cheap, and fully explain the work they did and didn't do. They're on the north side of Madison, a little out of the way, but they are worth the trip. Badger Transmission & Auto repair are truly a breath of fresh air, and a real throwback to the days of neighborhood mechanics who aren't out to gouge you

I called them at noon, Tim was working on my car ten minutes later. No charge for it, it was just slightly low on Trans fluid.

The best mechanic I have ever had. They explain everything, what needs to happen, how it possibly happened and how much it will cost to fix. And, they get the job done fast. They are definitely a breath of fresh air. It is so important to have the peace of mind that the work will be done right and at a reasonable price.

I thought for sure the SUV had a transmission problem as it felt like a washboard around 50 mph. Al went with me for a ride and diagnosed SPARK PLUG WIRES as the problem. After replacing them the vehicle is working fine. He charged nothing. What a good guy and what a relief that my trans is ok.
