I had my truck with a newly installed motor towed to Howe's shop because I did not have the computer equipment to properly set the timing and brake in the motor. Lee,the owner, and I had agreed Howes would put the fluids in, adjust the valve-train, install spark plugs, plug wires, and the distributor. I specifically requested all of this because valve train adjustment was absolutely necessary prior to timing with a computer and running the motor. I was called on a friday afternoon and told they were closing in a half an hour at 2:30 and if I didnt want to come get my vehicle it would have to stay outside for the weekend.I already requested that not happen,as I had stereo equipment, so I went to get the suburban. Due to excessive rocker arm(valve train) noise I had the vehicle towed home. they had informed me that they didn't adjust the valve train before running the engine. I was advised not to drive it by two other mechanics that I called. I asked a family friend and 40 year mechanic to look at the rocker arm and help adjust them. we tried to remove the valve cover and a slight tug on the plug wire caused the distributor to turn. This means he did not tighten down the distributor either. that is now two necessary steps to properly brake in the motor. I offered Howe's the opportunity to help me get the problem remedied. The wife/receptionist Patty made it quit clear it was my problem. Lee told me to twist the distributor back and forth and crank the key till it started. I knew not to do that. it needed a computer again. after being stonewalled I took it to a different mechanic who did what Howes was already paid to do. A knock was present and was found to be damage from improper brake in. It cost me 4000 borrowed dollars to have my vehicle fixed. When two seasoned engine builders confirmed it had to be Howes fault due to unadjusted valves and improper timing, I went to court. Lee lied and said I had never talked to him. He also said he cranked the motor from dry to build oil pressure. That IS what ruimed the motor. theparts proved it. I tried to point this out and was ingored due to "time restaints on the court". I lost due to lies, the judge not understanding the evidence, and Lee hiding behind his wife who he did not bring. Lee bad mouthed me to his neighbors who are my good friends. they have posted my full name an liscence plate as well as a picture of my truck on their buisness facebook slandering me. they are bad mechanics and bad people. dont get ripped of people. Howes 400 dollar bill cost my my kids and I 4000 dollars. save your money go somewhere else.

My family and I have only trusted our vehicles to Lee Howe for going on10 years now. Our neighbors have joined us and quite a few of our friends have as well. We have had a wide range of vehicles, Hondas, Fords, Toyotas, and Chevys and no matter the problem, Lee finds a solution. It has not always been easy and at times it took a couple of tries but Lee has always been straight with us. We don't even buy a vehicle anymore unless we pay Lee to give it a thorough once over. Every vehicle he has approved has had long term worth. I trust his judgment and skill!
