We have been taking our cars to Union Bay for over 20 years. Same owners and some of the same mechanics. They have always been straight forward. Never do work that isn't necessary. Always do what they say they're going to do.

These guys have been around a long time and have helped my family since the 60's. They now have a web site: http://www.unionbaygarage.com/home/

I can not say enough about this garage! We have taken all make and manner of car to them in the 20+ years we have used them--Ford, Honda,Volvo, Nissan, Dodge,Oldsmobile and BMW. They currently loving care for our Prius. I appreciate their honesty ("No Ma'am you do not need a new clutch"), their resourcefulness and persistance. They do not do the most expensive repair first-they will try a simple adjustment. If there is any diffuculty with a repair, they make it right. Occasionally we have odd problems with a car that no one can figure out. The good men at the garage have spent consideral time tracking these glitches and returning our cars to top performance. That has not been my experience with other garages I have encountered. You won't get you car washed here but any dope can do that. What you will get is supurb car maintainence and repair.

I've been using these guys for almost twenty years. They're always pleasant, answer my questions, and keep me and my car happy. Highly recommended.

I took my '99 Contour to Union Bay with a very strange problem--the lock on the passenger door had failed a few years ago. The passenger door would relock itself immediately after I tried to unlock the door (with a key or with the button), making the door permenantly shut. I had taken it to shops all over CA and very few would even consider working on the car. Those that did quoted me outrageous prices (saying the entire door would definitely have to be replaced). Union Bay fixed it in two working days (only because they needed a part) for under $200. They were forced to jimmy the interior of my door open with a crow bar, and there is honestly NO DAMAGE to the interior door. I don't know how they work the magic they do, but I'll keep going there for as long as I live in Seattle--maybe longer.

They have worked on my car several times and have been amazing! Last year I had a problem with the lighting in my car and they stayed open way past their closing time just to make sure that my car was driveable the next day.

This is by no means the only shop we've used over the years, as we've lived other places but came back to the area. Our extended family has happily used this shop since the 1930's (!), always under the same family ownership. The shop has always been dependable and competent, even through those few rare instances where things weren't quite perfect the first time. The knowledgeable free comments and advice from the front desk and the owner are in themselves worth a visit if you have any questions about your vehicle. Very highly recommended.
