Carl is honest. He's not cheap but I never feel ripped
off. The very first time I called him, after I told him my
car's symptoms, he just said "new car time". He could have
suggested that I repair it which would have cost me $2000.

I used to work near Carl's, and he and his team pulled me out of several awful
automotive crises. They are brilliant diagnosticians, and do top-flight work.
Carl does not push a lot of "preventive" maintenance (which is good if you are
trying to save money) but he will warn you if something looks like it's about
to give you trouble. Excellent parts (no refurbs, etc.) and very honest. Prices
are mid-range.

Their labor charges are a little high, but parts prices
are a little lower than the norm. My 90K check up was a
little costlier than I'd like. I needed a repair too and
checked around for prices finding that they were
competetive. I had another problem for which I took the
car to Hermann's on Roosevelt only to discover their
overcharges were much worse. I should have gone to Carl's.

Carl and his crew were great. Jerry figured out the problem when I described it
the minute I walked in the door. He had the car fixed and ready for me the next
day after work. Reasonable rates and a job well done!

Carl's has treated us very well over the years, but this Thanksgiving weekend they
surpassed all expectations. My Mom was in Seattle from far far away, and I
noticed a distinct gas odor when driving her Subaru. We went to our local dealer and told the service guy about
the odor. Without rising from his seat, he said, "That happens when it gets cold",
and blew us off completely. Really! I've owned Subaru's since 1984 & never had
that happen. I called Carl's (my regular mechanic since the dealer obviously
blows), and on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving at 1:30 in the afternoon (they
were due to close @ 2pm), they took the time to check out my Mom's car. The gas
line going to the fuel injector was loose and spewing gas in the engine
compartment. I couldn't see it due to the guard over the fuel injector. They
tightened the clamps, informed us the drivers side headlight was out because
the electrical harness was corroded, and refused to take any money. These guys
are the best!!
