I found this shop on the cartalk site. It is not a bad shop. They have the tools and people to get a car running. What I object to is the people skills. My son called for directions, for a wheel noise. The guy answering was snippy, like he was doing us a favor. Events kept my son from going in, so I took it in, and I waited in the office while they checked out my boy's car. This was the revelation. The same guy was still manning the phone, and he is a piece of work. A staffer walked in and said a lady was on the phone and she had expected a callback. A while before this a delivery guy came in and our host asked where the "switch" was, the key component for the lady soon to be on hold. Well the dealer forgot to put it in the delivery vehicle, so they had to dispatch another driver for thte 30 min drive. Our host waits about a minute and then gets on the phone and explains the part store messed up but the parts store were doing the lady a BIG favor and sending the needed switch over, so they could finish the car today. Nothing told me that our host was taking any part of ownership of the unfortunate delay. This was NOT a Nordstrom customer care experience. Then we get to my son's car. They did the analysis, charged $48 and had it on the lift. Bad Wheel Bearing Hub assembly. $442 plus tax. $200 for the bearing hub from Subaru part shop, plus 2.5 hours labor at $98/hour. I nearly melted a Plymoth wheel bearing a few decades ago, back when Click and Clack had hair in the right places, so I respect wheel bearings. But I have to let my son make his decisions/mistakes and with a wheel bearing that is barely makeing noise, we can ponder for a week. When I announce that I am not changing the wheel bearing hub today, a mechanic scurries (no other word for it) out of the shop area with a bundle in his hands. It is the aforementioned bearing hub. He tells me that these are not old style bearings. So I ask about the risks of letting my 19 yearold make the change. The response is the change is very complicated and we would need to buy tools (plural). I go online when I get home and find a respected description of a 30 min job with common tools. And I am not paying anywhere near $200 for bearing hub from a name brand source. Don't you love dealer markup? So if your 4x4 is in trouble, this place should be an option. Just hold onto your wallet and look elsewhere for cuddling. Adding a little honesty and real compasion could make all the differnce.

Our family has taken in 4 different Subaru's over the past 8 years and have been satisfied every time. We've had timing belts changed, head gaskets repaired and wheel bearings replaced. All vehicles were around 100,000 miles at least. Two years ago, I had some major work on the engine done and when the repairs were completed I was informed the mechanic made a mistake and dented the oil pan and transmission pan. The told me it would take a little longer but I was not charge for them. I would not have known about the damage and recognize their honesty by their informing me of the incident. I've driven over 60,000 miles since this work was done and have never had any problems with work they completed. I believe their prices are in line with others in the Northwest which are generally higher overall than places like the Midwest and Central U.S. I have confidence in their work and believe I am getting my money's worth.

Customer service above and beyond the call of duty. Would recommend them as the best Subaru mechanics in the county.
