I strongly recommend these folks. If the work doesn't need doing, or it can wait, they'll let you know. My wife discovers new sounds on our old ('91) van everyday, and these people always seem to put her fears to rest without charging us an arm and a leg.

I bought a 1988, but low mileage, Dodge Maxivan camper van.
I went to the local Dodge dealer to have it checked out and
mentioned the noisy AC compressor. I was told that I needed
a new compressor ($600) and four new ball joints. Since the
van had just passed state inspection and I didn't have a
spare $600 at the moment, I said I'd think about it and took
the van to Ernie, thinking that he'd charge less than the
dealer. He checked it out and told me that AC compressors
were chronically noisy on that model and that this one would
likely last many years, and that the ball joints were all
within state safety spec and if I kept them greased they too
would last a long time. This was three years and 20,000
miles ago and both the AC and the joints are still working
perfectly.

Award winning local service to the community at large as
noted by Best Choice in Businesses by Times Argus Newspaper.
Mom and Pop operation - kind - considerate - quick -
reasonably priced AND the first operation of its kind to
offer me my money back for work that did not have the end
results they felt it should! I refused, of course, since they
put the time and effort into the job - the vehicle is what
refused to work right!

I have been taking my cars to Ernie's Garage for almost 25 years. When I want to buy a used car I take it there and all of the mechanics look over every aspect of the car and tell me what is right and wrong with it. When I have a question I call or go there and Ernie takes the time to answer my question. They are well known and respected throughout Central Vermont. My favorite incident with Ernie was when I took my car to him and said that I thought it needed a tuneup. His response was "First put in some carb cleaner. If that doesn't work I will change the fuel filter. If neither of those things help, then we will think about a tuneup."
