One time I went to them for a brake job, and they told me they were swamped and recommended the guy across the street. Somehow I found it refreshing to have a garage admit they couldn't possisbly get the job done in a timely manner, and they assured me the guy across the street would do a good job for a fair price, which he did. Although, everyone in town knows the Shell station is the best. Plus they've got a miniature train that runs above the cashier's hut and landscaping that would put any mini-golf place to shame.

Time to update Cardinal Shell's survey. The numbers say it all. The mechanics are honest, prompt, and reasonable. They obviously take pride in their station and their work. Off and on - when living in Northern Virginia - we've used them for over 20 years. We have no complaints whatever.

This is a great garage, my husband and I both have had our cars worked on there many times. Twice we needed something fixed on a car mere hours before a long trip and, though they were very busy both times, they managed to squeeze it in and get it done in time for us not to delay our trip. I've never felt ripped off and never had a bad experience or repair job there. There is also a mechanic there who I am fairly sure is a multi-millonaire that just fixes cars because he really enjoys it. He always seems so calm and happy and is a bit philosophical about car repair. I was happy to see a female mechanic there, I think she was maybe just an intern but it still made me happy. The place is nice and clean and the property it is on is always cheerily decorated for whatever holiday or season might be occuring.

1. Open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm and in this area (with our commute and odd work schedules to avoid traffic) that is FABULOUS 2. Took my car in cold at 8:00 pm, and they were willing to rush it through, if needed. We didn't, but it was nice to have that option.

We have used Cardinal Plaza Shell for routine maintenance and repairs for several years on several different vehicles (Honda, Acura, Dodge). The service techs treat my wife with respect, offer firm estimates (and then sometimes come in with a cheaper bill, if warranted), and even change out brake light bulbs on the spot at no charge. Plus, they work on Sundays! A solid neighborhood service station that you can trust. Sort of like the old days!

this place is close to my house and I used to take my cars to them. They are expensive and some of the estimates I've gotten from them were just outrageous. My dashboard light was out and it was kind of hard to see the speedometer at night. I asked them to fix it and he told me it would cost $910 to replace a small bulb!!! I took it to a mechanic in Newington and had it done for $10. Another car of mine had been sideswiped and need work. Estimate from these guys $1800. I got the work done again in Newington for $470. If i'm gonna pay dealer prices, i'll go to the dealer. Yes this gas station is always clean and looking great but I'm not coming for decoration. I'd prefer a fair estimate and lower prices. I don't take my cars here anymore
