It is hard enough to find a mechanic you can trust. Richie is a particular find: He is honest, in my neighborhood, and only half a block from the bus line. The only problem is that this is a small shop and lots of folks know about it. You can't take them a big job at the last moment and expect them to fix it immediately. If you can plan ahead, this is the place to go.

My 1992 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI is an electrical nightmare. Your name it...it has died. The sense of humor of all the guys there and theirwillingness to admit when it is something that they cannot fix makes them a joy to deal with. Pontiac will not release all the computer codes for the sensors, so I have had to resort to a dealer with very negative results. I am now having to abandon the Pontiac for a new car, and will not be working with these guys anytime soon. It has actually been enjoyable enough for me that I thought about buying a classic car just so they could work on it.

Usually talk me out of any unnecessary service that I request. My best experience also involved the local Ford dealer. My 1995 Mustang had a recall last year, and I took it to Ford. I also asked them to look at a hesitation problem and an intermittent check engine light. Not including the recall repair, they quoted me about $700. I said thanks but no thanks. I took the diagnosis to Decatur's, and they were able to make the repairs for $137. I have had no further problems. These guys are excellent.

I've always had great service from Decatur's, starting with
the 1984 Honda Accord to my 1999 VW Golf. They do a very
good job at a reasonable price. Definitely recommended!

Completely agree with all the positive comments of others. Also, being "a girl", have had all kinds of NOT-great car repair experiences that have been gender related. This place is just great in that regard -- not only competent, honest, ready to send customers to someplace else better qualified for a particular job if appropriate (like transmission), and happy to explain things, but also assumes a woman might have a clue. Can't say enough good things about this shop. Hope though not too many people find out about them. (Kidding-hope they do so well they can retire early-deserve it!)

They are great guys. They cost more than some, but I think
they are pretty straight forward and pleasant! My entire
family - from my mother to my cousins to grandparents take
their cars to Decaturs.

These guys are your friends next store when you need help!
The overall experience of taking my car in to Decatur's is a
pleasant experience. The shop exists in a friendly,
walkable neighborhood with a coffee shop down the street.
They fix my car while I wait--quickly, I might add. Since I
have always owned Toyota Corollas, I have never had major
car troubles, but one time my bumper had become concave from
it, er, me, hitting a parked car. They popped it out with
no problem and for free!
When my old Corolla finally reached its end, they took the
time to talk with me about the next car I should purchase
and why. Even though I can get discounts at other places
for tires, oil changes and the like, I ALWAYS go to
Decatur's because then I know I don't have to worry about
anything.
