They are honest and the car was fixed quickly each time. They are older gentlemen who seem to know their way around a car. I used to go into Charlottesville until I found they had a shuttle service to work for me. They even offered me a cup of hot apple cider while I waited.

I was told of them by a mechanic I knew who works for the Commonwealth when I was looking for someone to work on our cars when we moved to the area 10 years ago. The mechanic had Piedmont Auto working on his cars if he didnÂ't have the time to do it himself! These guys are great, always friendly, honest, fairly priced and I trust them. What more can you ask for! Mr. OrndorfÂ's father started the business in the 1940Â's (I think). Mr. Orndorf retired a few years ago and sold his business. The guy who bought it kept on the mechanics so all was still good. Now Mr. Orndorf has Â"unretiredÂ" and runs the business again. I canÂ't speak to what makes of cars they like to work on so it would be best to ask them in regards to your vehicle; they will be upfront with you if they donÂ't work on it or are not familiar with it. In general I have observed American and foreign in their bays, but I would say they tend towards American more (our cars are foreign). IÂ'm a guy so I can not say how it is for a woman to go to their shop but I have been there when women have come in and Mr. Orndorf is a true Virginia gentleman, old school. By the way, they are only open M-F with no Saturday hours. As the mechanic recommended Piedmont to me, I have recommended Piedmont Auto to others and they have been happy.

They stock Toyota oil filters for me and always do a great job going the extra mile to save me money. I do not like going into Charlottesville to the Toyota dealer and always recommend Bill to my friends and all of our family.

I am really sorry to feel I have to write a negative review. Piedmont Auto has been my highly regarded go-to garage for years that I suggested to others. But with the change of ownership I think I should warn others to beware. The earlier reviews are right-on; Bill and his mechanics were great to work with, honest, caring, concerned, trying to do it right for you and by you, and from observation treated females as well as males. I previously gave a positive review for them on this site. Now, I think it is a rip-off place; the owner is more concerned about making money, “boat payment”, rather than treating customers fairly and HONESTLY and doing good work with decent parts at a reasonable rate. I had had a recent experience, which I won’t go into detail here to protect my privacy (small community), but suffice to say a simple inspection where my vehicle needed a few minor repairs to pass turned into many hundred dollar repair job. Something needed to be done and I approved…then they found something else in the same area of work and need to do that...and then they needed to replace something else, etc, etc… I am not writing to fuss about a repair bill but to warn others to not use this garage; there are better and more honest ones near-by. Simply stated I could see the rip-off happening in front of me but they had me by the you know whats in the inspection and while waiting for the work to be done I decided to pay the bill and never to come back. Beware!
