The new service manager Buck is even better!
Mar 30, 2001
Best auto shop I have ever dealt with, bar none. Great classic (Volvo) loaners cars are available to customers with appointment. Charlie, the former service manager was good but the new manager, Buck I feel will be even better. When Buck was a mechanic he installed a new motor in my car and I had 0% problems with the install. Females run the show, so women are treated fairly. Nice touch. The service personnel on many occasions has spent time looking for used parts to save a few bucks. Used cars are brought up to snuff before they are put on the lot. Honest dealer.

They are honest and friendly.

For years, my family has only bought cars from Edgecomb's. Not out of any
special love for Volvos (though they do sell some other brands), but because we
only want Edgecomb's to work on our cars. There's never any need to second-
guess the diagnosis, wonder if we're getting the right price, or considering
doing the work ourselves to save a few bucks. They're friendly, fast, and
capable. I intend to keep on buying cars from Edgecomb's.

Always friendly, helpful and competent, I just wish they
were not so pricey. However if $$ was not an issue, hands
down, I would go to them every time for work on my Volvo or
Subaru. Before doing work they give you a call and tell you
what is up and what it will cost and they also will look
over your vehicle and tell you what needs to be done (and
provide a nice print-out you can take with you which tells
you how urgent the work needs to be done, nice to know if
you have an old car!). For example, recently we were going
on a long trip with our over 200,000 mile Volvo. They look
her over and found a crankshaft seal (I think that is what
it was) that was going and would have gone on the trip- a
$60. fix. They can provide you a loaner if you agree to
stay within the Charlottesville area with it. Clarification…
I think their shop rate is reasonable, but you definitely
get charged full retail price for those parts!

Edgecomb's is great, and I highly recommend them. I first
found them here on the Cartalk website, and it's the only
place I've taken my car to for 4 years. For an oil change,
they're not the cheapest place around, but for any real work
on your car, they are very reasonably priced and, above all,
honest. I get my oil changed at a chain store since it's
cheaper, but they always tried to tell me that I needed $500
in urgent repairs. The first time they did that, I took it
to Edgecomb's and they told me it wasn't true, that my car
could go for another year or thousands more miles without
those repairs. You can really trust Edgecomb's, and the free
loaner service is great.
