My family has used Dave's shop for years. I live across town now and I still take my car to Newman's. As a single woman, I can rely on his integrity and know that I am not being taken to the cleaners. He's even told me the sweetest words that a mechanic can possibly say: "There will be no charge."

One thing I appreciate about Newman's is that although they make me aware of service that is or will soon be needed, they have never used any sales pressure to have the work done.

I have been taking my car to Dave for about 2 years now and have been very happy with the quality of his work and customer service. Dave keeps great records on the cars he works on and will frequently refer to his notes when we're talking about recommended services. Dave is really good about remembering repeat customers, is very honest, and gives sound advice. Dave's work is well done and very thorough, but I think it's a little bit on the pricey side. I haven't been to other car repair shops, however, so I can't compare to other places around town. For me, the quality of the work and peace of mind justifies the price. I have recommended his work to friends and they have all been happy with it.

The first time I went in there, they made me feel very comfortable, and I walked out with a good sense of what had to be done to get my car fixed. When it came time for the actual fixing, I left it all day, only to come back at the end of the day to find out no work had been done because they wanted to charge an extra $200 for a "brand new part" that just came out. Of course, that shocked me, and when I tried to find out if there was any other way to fix my car without charging as much, they became cold and uncooperative. The feeling I got was I was putting them out for trying to get a better price. It showed in their faces and attitudes. I left, went to the Honda dealership, of all places, expecting a higher price than Newmans. How shocked I was when the dealer quoted a price $200 less than Newmans (what a coincidence) and told me that brand new part was $50 less than what Newmans would have charged. And the people at Honda even smiled, and didn't just give me a curt head-nod when I walked out the door.

I'm a single woman so I really appreciate the way they explain everything in detail and never pressure me into anything.

This is one of the last truly family operated businesses. They treat their customers so well, never too busy to inform me what I need now and what I may need in the future. Never pushy, always a delight.

David, You guys have provided - Amazing Service, Professional, Even Scientific! My daughter's car, was having what seemed to be fuel problems. Newman's promptly diagnosed the problem as an alternator problem and quickly fixed the car. The cost of repairs are always reasonable, Instead of fixing things that aren't the cause of the problem, Newman's Automotive can diagnose it accurately. The result is always less costly in the long run! Thank You so much we really appreciate all of you're Honest work! Eric G.

I needed to have a pre-purchase inspection done on a Honda for sale locally in Austin. The problem was that I'm from out of town and had no easy way to bring the car to Newman's Automotive personally. So I called him and explained my situation. David (the owner) went out of his way and picked up the car and inspected it for me, for a fair price. He called me with the results - the whole transaction was over the phone! I ended up making a trip to Austin to buy the car, and sure enough, the problems he found were exactly what I found when I bought the car. I can't say enough about the honesty of this shop. Next time I'm in Austin, I'm taking my car to David.
