Very honest and doesn't charge for checking up when no
repairs are done. Referred me to other honest, reasonable
mechanics.
I indicated a friendship, but he's really just a friend of a
friend.

Ray Covington is the shop owner and was recommended to me by
a friend. I have a 1990 5.0 Mustang convertible that had
transmission problems. Ray started out gently on the
repairs, but the transmission needed a rebuild. It was
quickly taken care of and has been trouble free ever since.
That was five years ago, but I have to admit the car
doesn't get a lot of miles, although still a daily driver.
Ray is easy to work with and will keep you apprised of the
repair process and explains the problem.

When my car simply stopped one morning, I was able to get it into a repair shop
that recommended Covington's, sensing a transmission problem. I had it towed
there, and the owner called to tell me I needed a transmission that would cost me
$4000. Luckily, I had another car to drive. I left it there for a few days while I was
going to arrange a pickup. Then he called me and said he added some
transmission fluid and it started right up--$250...but, he added, I still needed a
new transmission. So I took it to a Lexus dealer who tested it and said nothing
was wrong with the transmission. When in doubt, get other opinions, especially
before forking over thousands of dollars.
