I didn't answer the question about whether they respond well when they screw something up, because in 6 years of three-times-a-year maintenance and a few repairs, they haven't screwed anything up yet! But I'm confident that if they ever did, they would respond well.

I started using this shop over 20 years ago when the current owner, Sam, was a young pup mechanic in the shop. I was a law student driving a decade + old VW Rabbit. The shop was recommended to me when I had a problem - it wouldn't start come heck or high water. After pulling the car there (students couldn'r afford extravegances like a tow truck) the car started perfectly. With my permission they kept it for a day or two - until it wouldn't start. They explained that the car had one of two independant problems and they wouldn't be able to tell which one - each was a couple hundred dollar repair until it didn't start. Again, as a student I couldn't afford both repairs, one of which was unnecessary. The car continued to start for them causing me to take it home. It continued to start regularly FOR TWO YEARS! I was not charged a dime for their looking at the car, selling me on their honesty for life!

A great shop with a hands on owner. Sam knows his stuff and will tell you what he recommends. When a cheaper, but equal, fix will do, that's what he sells you. Tries to be a one stop shop. As one of the other reviewers noted, sometimes it may be a twist or a tweak that fixes a major problem and he sends you on the way without a bill. My wife has paid even baked him cookies she was so pleased with the service.

Sam is great guy and hires quality help. the old windshield wiper fluid sale is gravy for them, but its hard to begrudge it.

Tracy's is the best mechanic shop in Memphis period. Sam is honest, hard working and knowledgeable. I simply cannot express how exceptional his services and skill are.

Sam has been working on our foreign cars for almost 20 years and is great. Sometimes he will try to convince you that you don't need to actually replace something because it still has a little life left. I would highly recommend taking your foreign car here. It is walking distance of the Medical Center and near the bus and trolley line to downtown. Sometime they will give you a ride if it is close by.

Sam and the entire staff are super competent. They are honest beyond reproach. Their work is impecable. If they cannot fix a problem they will tell you and send you to the dealer, but this is rare as they have acquired the electronics necessary to fix even the most difficult problems. Sam operates the business as it should be, service, service, service!!!

After numerous recommendations from friends and neighbors, I took my vintage Camry to Tracy's for a big list of repairs I had been putting off. Sam was very detailed in explaining all that needed to be done. Seeing the pained look on my face at the impact this was going to have on my wallet, Sam prioritized the list, and gave me a few options on some of the lesser important items. In the end, the work was completed in half the time, and the total came in well under the original estimate. As you can imagine, I was thrilled. One item that I would like to expand on had to do with a cracked rear light assembly that always filled with water every time it rained. This had been a major pain for over a year as I had to manually drain it by raising and lowering the trunk after every shower. To replace it was going to cost several hundred dollars but Sam suggested we try one option he knew of that might solve my water collection problem. The fix worked perfectly, saving me several hundred dollars and making me a loyal customer for life. The fact that Sam offered up a solution to my rear light problem when I was a new customer showed me why people that use Tracy's are so loyal. Tracy's has my business for as long as I live in Memphis and I whole heartedly recommend them to everyone I know looking for a reliable garage.
