Both Bob Roth and Bernie (don't know last name) will only do necessary repairs, i.e. if you come in and ask about getting new brakes they won't do work if you can go another 6 months. The cost of repairs is always reasonable, they will look for ways to keep costs down. Both are very hard, honest workers, but they always take the time to explain how something works, suggest alternatives, give good recommendations if they can't do something.

I HAVE A 1988 AUDI WITH 4 WHEEL DISK BRAKES, THE PARKING BRAKE STOPPED WORKING BECAUSE THE RETRACTING SPRING JUST WORE OUT . AUDI WANTED OVER $1,000.00 FOR NEW CALIPERS (JUST THE PARTS) BECAUSE THAT IS THE ONLY WAY THEY WILL SELL YOU THE SPRINGS . BOB, SEARCHED AROUND AFTERMARKET SUPPLIERS UNTIL HE FOUND THE 2 SPRINGS AND TALKED THEM INTO DONATING THEM ,AND THEN PUT THEM ON FOR FREE, HE CLAIMED IT WASN'T MUCH WORK.

I took my '90 Nissan stanza to Bob Roth until it was totaled last year. He never does any work unless he feels it is necessary (I almost had to twist his arm to look at my rear struts, and once he saw they were original - on a 10-year-old car - he agreed they probably needed replaced), thoroughly explains the repairs, and returns the parts. He also will not use a cheaper part if, for a little more, he can put one in that will work better or last longer (e.g. he will only use Bendix brakes). Since I'm driving a new car, I haven't had to go there for about a year, but once it's out of warranty, I'll take it there again. I also intend to send my son there with his used Eagle Talon. His hours aren't terribly convenient, and it's about a half- hour drive from my home, but it's worth it.

Roth Automotive usually has a fast turn around for repairs.
As mentioned by another reviewer, his prices aren't any
cheaper than other mechanics, but he's not going to sell you
parts or services that you don't need. Always happy to
explain problems or offer advice. Not too convenient for me
since I moved about 20 minutes away, but I still use Roth
because I trust him. I've never taken a bus from his area
but I'd imagine that its a pain.

I found dealing with Bob to be a satisfying experience in
that I felt that I received good value and fair treatment
for the money that I spent. They seem to be good people,
and the fixed the problem on the first visit.
