My lovely Subaru Legacy (1990) broke down on I-70 new years weekend. Turned out that a piston had broken, and I needed a new engine. Well, my dad says that before I get any work done on the car (it had been towed to a reputable garage) we get an estimate from the Watkins garage. Not only did he quote us a little over half what the other garage would for a new engine, but it included the cost of towing it from Hagerstown, MD, to Meadville, PA (a 5 hour drive!). He got the car on a Tuesday, and by Friday afternoon it was finished, no problems, and he even fixed other problems that he noticed around the engine (CV boot, etc.). Now, I always take my Subaru to Rick Watkins in Meadville. He does it right the first time, at a reasonable price, in short order.

When I moved here I asked Rick if he would work on my Honda, even though Subaru's are his specialty. He has taken great care of me and I would reccomend him highly.

I went to Rick probably half a dozen times when I lived in Meadville for college and on and off for a few years afterwards. He was always exceptional and did everything from finding a good used replacement engine from my car to regular inspections. I felt like he treated me like a daughter. He even humored my own father who called to make sure they were treating me fairly. It looks like they have moved to Saegertown.

I first purchased a 1999 Subaru Outback Legacy from Mr.Watkins in the summer of 2012. I have been using him as my mechanic ever since and have always been impressed with the level of service provided at his dealership. He is very fair with pricing, both in his car sales and in his mechanical work that I've had done to my cars. I've had numerous repairs and work done to my Outback and Rick always is very up front with what needs done, and works to cut costs as much as possible without diminishing the quality of his work. Even when he was away during the winter, he took the time to help me over the phone with a car issue I was having and referred me to another reputable mechanic in the area to fix the issue. I've recently traded in my Outback for a 2002 Legacy and was pleased with the smoothness of the transaction and again he was very fair in his pricing and gave me a good trade in deal. I've since had the Legacy in for repairs and again, he's always honest and efficient in his work. I'm actually taking my car in for an oil change tomorrow!
