This morning (two days before Christmas) I called Burt about my Plymouth Voyager van. On Saturday night I was unloading the van after bringing my daugther home from college for Christmas break. As I was trying to close the side sliding door, it fell off (my daughter thought that this was hysterically funny at the time. I did not). I called Burt to see if it would be possible for him to fix it. Not only did he get it fixed today, at a VERY reasonable price, he sent someone over to my house right away, had them pick up the van (I was afraid to drive it, thinking that the door might fall all the way off--it was still attached in one of the three places it attaches), got it fixed by mid-afternoon, and delivered right back to my house. He's the greatest. I'll never got to another machanic as long as I live in Pittsburgh.

Our Nissan Quewt began having engine problems just as finished the 500 mile to Pittsburgh for our son's graduation from Carnegie Mellon. Our son's friends recommended Burt from their previous contact with his shop, although they warned that they knew he was booked up with jobs til the middle of the foloowing week. Within seconds of investigating the symptoms Burt showed me the problem (a wire to the sparkplug had lost its insulation causing frequent misfires) and agreed to repair it for me over the next few hours. Everything was done as promised and I was soon ready to rejoin the graduation events with the rest of the family. Burt mentioned that I was the third CMU parent from out of town who had called seeking help that Saturday morning, and he seemed to truly enjoy being ready, willing, and able to be the Good Samaratan for drivers in distress.

I haven't lived in Pittsburgh in years but I joined cartalk today and I wanted to give a review of this place since Burt basically kept my car on the road while I was in college. Burt is among the most honest people (forget mechanics) I've ever met. He always gave me honest advice even if it meant less work for his shop and the prices were always fair. Of all the mechanics I've used in the various places I've lived. I would rank Burt as the best and if I could still take my car to him, I would.
