I have been driving for almost 50 years, and have obviously had a lot of experince with a lot of mechanics. From my own experience with Art & Mark's, which covers a period of about 20 years (I was a customer when they worked for a major car parts chain before they went into business for themselves), I would give them top marks on all of the items listed. For me, honesty and reliability are probably the most important items in the lists, and affects things like a reasonable repair price. Without them, no price is reasonable. Art & mark are absolutely honest. I've seen and had them tell me and others that requested work was covered by warranty, and would be done by the dealer at no cost. I have actually opted to have them do some warrent work rather than the dealer, because I knew it would be done right and when promised. As far as work being done right the first time, I've never had to come back for improper work. I have had to come back because of defective product (bad series of replacement starter motors back when they worked for the chain and were obliged to use the products provided by the chain. Nothing since they've had the controls) and the product was replaced with an apology for the inconvenience and immediate attention to the problem. I unequivocably recommend them.

I found Art and Mark's through the MechaniX files and have
been really pleased with the pleasant, cheerful, upfront
and honest manner in which they have repaired and serviced
both mine and my wife's vehicles over the last two years.
They even diagnosed and fixed problems with my 1999 Mazda
that a 'more convenient' repair shop couldn't handle.
We're moving an additional 6 miles away from Art and
Mark's shop next month but will definitely go the extra
few miles to get the service we've come to enjoy.

Shortly after I moved to the area some 15 years ago, I had
a problem with my car and not knowing mechanics in the
area I took it to a "chain". They gave me a list of
problems including the need for automatic transmission
service....the car was a stick! I then tried
another "chain" and they too gave me a list of
problems..none of which were the same as the first shop.
Finally I asked a neighbor where he took his car. He
suggested Art and Marks and I remain grateful. They have
been outstanding, honest, skilled, and just great folks.
I've taught my children that if a problem develops call 1)
Dad 2) AAA if they are on the road and 3) Art and Marks!
Obviously I strongly recommend them!

I first took the Toyota 4-Runner to Art and MArk because I
needed a second opinion. The Toyota dealer (Conicelli) had
told me that the rattling sound I was hearing meant that
my engine was out of synchronicity, and the cost to repair
it would be between $800 and $1000. I'm not totally
ignorant, and I did have a "Huh?" reaction and decided I
really needed a second opinion. I told Art and Mark what
the dealer had said.
Art and Mark charged me $25 to drill out all the corroded
bolts on the defunct car alarm that had loostened and was
making the rattle. Why would I go elsewhere?

Like a lot of people, I found that locating a GOOD auto place you can trust can be pretty hit-and-miss. Mostly miss. Then, listening to Car Talk one Saturday morning, they mentioned their Mechanics List. That sounded promising. So I looked, and that's how I found Art & Mark's. The result? At the risk of sounding like a ringer or like one of their family members, I have to say I have never found the kind of automotive experience, knowledge, satisfaction, and personal caring that I've found at Art & Mark's. They're that good. Think of them as Tom and Ray without the one liners. You get opinions--along with printouts. You get honesty to the point that, in my case, they missed something, told me they did without me saying anything--and then fixed it at no charge. They follow up, they talk TO you--not at you. But more than anything, they listen. I can't ever see our family going anywhere else again,. ever.
