Exceedingly honest people. Have been a customer for nearly 3 years since
moving back to Portland - found them by luck of working near their shop and
wanting to avoid the dealership at all costs when my Jetta began throwing
codes. Darrel kept that old car running for another 2 years/40k miles until
one day last summer informing me that it'd had finally given up the ghost and
I'd be seeing him every few months in the future if I kept at it.
At this point he knew I was a dedicated customer, and had he wanted he
could've kept me coming in for those frequent repairs instead of telling me to
start looking for a new car. So I took his advice, had him inspect a few used
Audis I was looking at, and bought one on his recommendation. The new
car's been fantastic, and as proof of his experienced eye, have only been back
since for a routine oil/filter change. In the short term he's making quite a bit
less from me by being honest, but he's certainly made a life-long customer
out of me. If you're a Portland Audi/VW owner, stop going to the dealer and
give Precision a call.

These guys are awesome. Fairly priced, knowledgeable and
helpful. I had been jumping around from mechanic to mechanic
to find someone who I truested and knew what they were doing
with my Audi. I was told to try out Precision Motor Car and
I will never go anywhere else with my Audi!
The dealership had told me I had a power steering fluid leak
and that it'd cost $900+ to fix the leak and the related
problems. I went to Precision for a second opinion and
Darrell told me, "Sure, you have a leak, all of the '96 A4's
do. You could get it fixed, and then it'll just leak again
in a few months, so, I'd say, since it's not a big leak or a
real problem (unless you let the level of the fluid drop);
just ignore it for now." That blew me away. They could've
tried to take me for several hundred dollars but didn't.
They're the best.

I took my car to these guys based off the recommendations
on this page and am SO grateful that I did. Not only were
they able to fix one problem on my vehicle, they saved me
money on a few others. Darrell recommended calling the
dealership to check on items that may be under warranty, and
sure enough, they were. They also documented a problem
caused by another shop complete with photos which helped me
when it came time to get the other shop to fix the damage
they had caused.
I was always spoken to respectfully, and they saved me money
on repairing my vehicle (in more than one area). They run
an honest business, and, because of this, have earned me as a
return customer for life. The shop is a bit of a drive from
where I live, but it's definitely worth it!!

They charged me more than half less than what the dealer
suggested. They said many of the problems the dealer
pointed out might not happen again and they should just
reset the computer and see if they happen again. About once
a year I have to go in to reset some fault again, which they
do with no charge.
The car hasn't had any problems, these are people I will
continue to see again and again.

I LOVE MY MECHANIC!! Darryl at Precision Motor Car is the
best person around. His shop does great work, will tell me
if I don't need to fix something (isn't just out to swindle
me), and always takes the time to explain things to me.
They are quick and reliable, and I couldn't be happier. I'm
so glad I found them.

Based on recommendations here, I took my Audi TT in for the
first time. They were unable to pinpoint the problem with
the ABS system, because the computer contained no codes.
Darrell explain this thoroughly and did not charge me for
the diagnosis time. He also checked the transmission for
me and said that it felt normal for this car. Good start!

I've never been to a shop like this. Low on fluid on my
Passat and I stopped by because the latch broke, couldn't
open the hood. Todd put a latch in immediately, put fluid
it, said don't worry about it. Need the car on a weekend,
had it towed it. Darryl immediately knew what it was but was
apologetic -- he was short handed and couldn't go get the
part. It was after 3 on Friday, I borrowed a car, got the
part, he put it in in 1 minute. Again no charge, "You saw
how long that took me." He does ALL the work on our cars and
has been for 5 years now. Extremely happy with this
mechanic, wondering if I should post this because I don't
want him to get busier.

My first visit was very good. In a town full of VW places,
this shop is a cut above. My car needed only routine
maintenance (oil change, some turn signals/bulbs
replaced/general inspection). I bought my VW TDI new 10
years ago and it is running in good condition with about
120K miles. I expressed some concern about the condition of
my battery, solely because of its age, not any performance
issue. Darrell assured me that the battery was OK (but to
keep an ear out for signs of degradation) when he easily
could've convinced me to replace it right away. He also
priced out a few things I might need in the future. I never
felt pressured! I will return soon and will report on that
experience as well!
