I have a Mercedes Benz diesel and many of the parts can be hard to find in my area except at the dealership. They usually have the parts I need, give plenty of advice on how to make repairs, and the prices are less than the dealership and the service is faster. I am very happy with MBI, and since I have taken my '79 300D there since I got it four years ago, and it purrs like a kitten. They are knowledgeable, helpful, and the main guy, Sig, is great at telling you what is wrong and what it takes to fix it.

Sig, the service advisor, is a local institution with Mercedes owners throughout the Portland Area. The shop only works on Mercedes-Benz and they clearly know their product. Their labor rates are extremely reasonable. The Parts Dept is well stocked with reasonable prices. One of the mechanics made a mistake servicing my car and the shop was quick to correct the problem. The shop is crowded and not particularly convenient. The waiting area leaves a lot to be desired. Still, I go out of my way to use their services because I trust them to do good work at prices substantially below others in the area- especially the local dealer.

Since Sig sold MBI the customer service folks are not as friendly. Just a competent just more brusk. The prices seem to have gone up about $10/hr. I have had an argument about how to torque the injector pump lines to the injectors. MB says it is a three step process but they did not know. Only when I took in the technical manual, not the shop manual, did they agree to use the three step process. Makes all the difference in how smooth the diesel runs. They are still the best in Portland.
