Only been once but seem very honest. When I was paying the bill Jim said "sorry I could not have spent more of your money."

When I took my car to Autocraft for the first time, I was expecting to have a $300 bill for a brake job. It turns out the last person to work on my brakes (at a garage who shall remain nameless) had screwed something up. Autocraft told me that in fact it was just a simple repair. And they didn't charge me a thing! Whenever I pick up my car from Autocraft, there are always cute old couples shootin' the breeze with the mechanics, looking so happy and satisfied. Autocraft has paid to have my car towed twice and I've never been overcharged. I love Autocraft.

I had Autocraft look at my car after being dissatisfied with work from another shop. Jim came out to my car and looked under the hood with me for free, and showed me loose bolts/clamps, and other problems. I brought the car back for the repairs and back again after one part had come in, and was very pleased with the shop's service and manner.

The phone number is unavailable in the profile, but here it is: 503-228-3350 Talk with Jim. Very friendly shop and completely trustworthy. Some jobs even come in below the quote on occasion.

Had 3 different jobs done here - all toughies that I didn't have the tools or knowhow for. I grew up in a family that worked on our own cars and farm equipment. Jim nailed them all first time and without a hitch. We chatted about repair philosophies and I liked his. He could have easily overcharged for a couple of things; but he only fixed the smaller ones that were the real root causes. I trust him a lot, have a lot of respect for him and recommend him highly. A couple other good shops on this list are very good; but pricy in my opinion. He is more fair and I never mind writing the check.

they did great work - I left my car & picked it up after hours - never met them but we talked on the phone & - hey - my car runs great! I'm calling them now for a new problem - 2 years later....

First off, the place has moved. The new address is 2310 NW 30th Ave--behind that coin-op car-wash on Nicolai. (They also have a web page: ) Anyway, not a big problem--my "check engine" light came on. He got me in right away, gave me an honest diagnosis at a fair price and that was that. Chances are it was a fluke occurance--a mix of engine temp, altitude, RPMs, etc--that tripped the sensor, so he reset it, and if it comes on again, I can take it back to get the work done.

I grew up in the Portland area, but was leaving to drive back to my home in Texas (after visiting family) when my minivan broke down. Jim at Autocraft came in after hours and fixed the problem so that I could continue back home on time. Not only did he fix it quickly, but he did it way under the quoted price and checked everything else out to ensure we would have a safe trip back. Our car is running better than ever and Autocraft's service and expertise is second to none.

I got Jim's name from a colleague that I worked with about 4 years ago. Best advise I ever got. My car is a 1992 Acura with almost 200,000 miles on it so it has been in Jim's shop several times over the years; today he installed a new power steering pump and made several adjustments unrelated to that just because they needed to be done. The service is friendly and fast and without a doubt Jim is the most capable honest mechanic that I've ever been to.
