One of the first times I went in (back in 1989,) with a 1983 Honda Accord I had bought used with 95,000 miles, because I was having trouble with my clutch -- I just stopped in (without an appointment) and said (like a dummy) "I think I need a new clutch" -- instead of making me an appointment to replace the clutch, the guy came out and hopped in the car and drove it around the block, then got out and opened up the hood, reached in and turned some thingimajig and told me I was all set for a while -- no charge -- a year or so later I went back to replace the clutch and have been a believer ever since. Great shop -- nice folks -- friendly dogs -- quality, honest work >> what a concept . . .

I was lured in to another local mechanic by their $13 oil change. Needless to say they came back with a list of "recommended repairs," totaling approximately $1300 (PLUS labor!). I took my Subarau Loyale to Sandpiper for a second opinion (cost = $50). The repairs they recommended were estimated at $0! While the first place said I needed a whole new clutch (~$400), Sandpiper adjusted it and now it's as smooth as butta! My rear brakes, which the first place said were at 15%, were really at 50%. Lesson learned: cupons are good, but the tighter you squeeze your pennies, the more just seem to slip through your fingers. The people were nice, respectful, and knowledgeable. They were recommended to me by two independent sources as fair, honest, and of high quality. I'd have to agree with that. You don't need to worry about gender discrimination either (one of the mechanics is a woman). Sandpiper may cost a little more than the bargain basement places, but their expertise, thouroughness, and honesty will end up saving you money and grief.

Honesty is the word that best describes Sandpiper. If a fix is expensive and can wait they tell you. They are always looking for ways to save you money. I once took my subaru to the local dealer to fix an overheating problem and was told it would cost $425. Sandpiper fixed it for $39. The mechanics are friendly and never treat you as a dummy. I highly recommend them. 4425

I have been going to Sandpiper for many years. It is always nice to walk in and receive a knowing smile from all of their employees (even their dogs). They always have time to discuss and investigate problems and treat everyone equal. Their prices may be a little higher than other places in town, but the work has always been great.

These folks take the fear out of car ownership for the uninformed driver (me).

John and Geri are great! Very honest and thorough. They give good advice and I highly recommend talking to Sandpiper if you're interested in purchase a new or used car. They talked me out of a Subaru Outback (what was I thinking) and into a Toyota Tacoma pickup. It was less expensive and a much better buy. I had absolutely no trouble with my Tacoma and when I moved up to a 4Runner, I had Sandpiper give it a clean bill of health before I bought it. I have always received prompt, friendly service (Jim's the best) and they have always came in under their quotes and the work has been superior. In my opinion, Sandpiper is the best shop in Eugene (and probably in the Williamette Valley).

My son turned 18 and was looking to buy a used car. Of course the cars he was interested in were not the ones we wanted him to buy. He agreed to abide by Sandpipers decision on the condition of the prospective purchases and after they advised him against buying 3 lemons that he brought in they finally approved a Toyota Celica that both he and we approved of. The three lemons he brought them to inspect were so bad that they didn't charge him for the inspections.

I am thrilled to have found Sandpiper. I own an 89 Honda Civic, which has had a chronic problem for 7 years. When the weather is hot, the engine has a very rough idle, and will sometimes stall when coming to a stop. I took my car to two other mechanics, paid good money, and they were unable to solve my problem. I found Sandpiper through this Car Talk web site when I moved to Eugene, Oregon. The owner was able to solve my problem by figuring out that my car needed a new MAP sensor. Now my car runs like new again. They were tenacious in figuring out my problem, and they were extremely reasonable in the cost. I am very grateful to have a reliable car again. Although I'm a new customer, I will continue to use Sandpiper for my auto needs. It is great to have a reliable and honest mechanic.

I highly recommend Sandpiper Import Automotive. They have bent over backwards to resolve a ECU 755 error code on my 1996 Nissan Maxima. -They haven't charged me for the $385.00 modular part until the error idiot light eventually stops blinking. Work is still pending. They have a great deal of integrity and I feel won't bamboozel the customer. The Car Talk site was the source that recommended them. Let's keep of the good work, guys and gals. Regards, Steven Roberts
