I first went to Conrad's for tires for MY Ford Escort and while I was there I asked if they could work on the leaking radiator for my sister's Dodge Neon (note that we had been to the dealer, who said we needed a new radiator RIGHT NOW and that it would be $500). Al, the manager, suggested that before we bring it in, we drop a raw egg and some pepper into the radiator and drive until the car was hot -- he had seen that work. He also said NOT to use any of the over-the-counter sealant products, because they tended to seal things you didn't actually want sealed, like, say, the radiator hoses. The egg didn't work, so I brought it in and he gave me an estimate -- for free -- for less than half the dealer's price. We have not had any radiator problems since. Later, the Dodge Neon was viciously attached by a 30 year-old rose bush which ripped the power mirror off the passenger side of the car (true story!). The Dealership said the new mirror -- just the PART, mind you -- was $285.00 plus tax. I called Al at Conrad's. He got the mirror -- the SAME mirror, FROM THE SAME DEALERSHIP-- for less than $75.00. Total repair cost, including installation was something like $100.00. More recently, the after-market alarm system on the Dodge Neon (arranged by a different branch of the same dealership) began acting up and an alarm repair tech suggested it could be the battery. We already had an appointment to get 2 new tires on the Neon, so I asked Al to take a look at the battery while she was there. (Note that Conrad's does not do alarm work at all) He checked the entire electrical system and found the batter to be low. He recharged the battery and re-checked the system and found no unusual drains. And charged me NOTHING EXTRA to check the system. Actually, the tech who did the check put it on the bill and, in spite of the fact that Al had quoted me $19.95 for the diagnostic, which I agreed to, Al took the charge for the diagnostic OFF the bill! These are the nicest guys, honest, polite, and very funny, actually. If I can avoid it, I will never go to anybody else again. Ever.

My boyfriend and I are new to the neighborhood and used Mechan-X-Files to find this place. I have a Honda Accord that needed a lot of exhaust work - immediately. They were extremely proficient in their diagnosis (which was free), though did not pressure us into anything. Objectively speaking, they are somewhat pricey, but after having several "friends who knew about cars" work on my car to try and save money (that actually cost me way more in the long run), it was totally worth it to have quality, professional work done on my car. All of the parts they used and labor they did are gauranteed for life. They seemed to really know the car inside and out, even offering advice about my specific year ('94). Both my boyfriend and I felt totally comfortable and will continue to use them for both of our cars. Thanks guys!

I took my car in for rear brakes, which were badly needed. I had the front brakes done not too long ago. I took the car in first thing in the morning so they had all day to work on it. First phone call from them stated that they would re-surface rotors, all was good. Second phone call was to say, no - they couldn't resurface rotors, would need to replace. Third phone call was - hey, while the car was up, we noticed that front brakes need replaced. Fourth phone call was to say - by the way, front rotors and all the hardware on the calipers needs replaced, too. Finally, when repair was complete, went to pick up the car and pay for repairs. There was a sign in the window clearly stating that they offered 12 months of 0% financing - however, the person behind the desk knew nothing about this, they only offer 6 months. I showed her the sign...still no help, and displayed no interest in helping. She told me I would have to call the credit card company myself - which I did while standing in front of her. After about 30 minutes on the phone with the credit card people, who, of course, needed to talk to the store associate, this got taken care of. I then went out to my car - and found that they had apparently drained the battery while working on the car all day - as they had failed to turn off the auto-on headlights. Difficult time starting the car - and then found out that the radio was locked - and I needed the secret code to get the radio working again (which I did not have ready access to). The final straw was just after leaving the shop, I stopped at the store, was parked on a slight hill...and found that they had failed to re-attach the parking brake (I have a manual transmission car). After all the garbage that they put me through - I was at the end of my patience. Back to the shop I went. They needed to put if back on the lift & fix and would need to keep the car overnight (as it was just a few minutes before closing). What put me completely over the edge is that the guy I was talking to was making jokes about it - trying to laugh the whole thing off. I can take a joke as well as the next guy - but shoddy work on my car is definitely not a laughing matter to me. I will never go back to that location again...and will probably never go back to ANY Conrads based on this experience.
