The only car repair shop that really trys to minimize the
repairs and the price. Typical example: "We looked at
your brakes (as you requested). There weren't any
problems. You could replace pads now but we recommend you
wait another 5 or 10 thousand miles out of them before
replacing. We cleaned them up for you - no charge."
I had my car towed to HALT after a timing belt break.
Their rough, over-the-phone estimate was 600 - 2300 $,
depending on the extent of internal engine damage. They
could easily have "gouged" me. They worked my car into
their schedule quickly & the repair bill was between 500 &
600.
These folks are very honest & straightforward. All their
wrk comes from loyal customers and word-of-mouth
references.

i borrowed an old beater honda civic from a friend while my miata needed brake repairs. two days into driving the civic the collector pipe brock off the collector. i could not return the car to my friend this way, and knew he would not himself want to put very much money into the civic as it was kept just for emergencies like mine, his, or when his sons were in town. i told my sad story to another friend and she told me about HALT. i just showed up there and within minutes the car was on a rack for a look see. i explained that i just wanted it fixed cheaply. they completely understood i did not want a new exhaust system or anything close. at first the mec. said there probably wasn't enough metal left to weld. he search around the shop for some pieces, cut an old pipe... and said, "i can give it a try... for $35. i said, please do. he put the car on another rack close to his welder and 20 minutes later it was fixed. he took his time though, carefully welding a repair, even put on a clamp where there was none. this quieted the car from a very irritable rattle. i knowi was not in the shop a total of one hour... i left paying only $35 and the car was in better shape than when i borrowed it. i don't mean to undermine this shop by just saying they are "cheap" because they were professional in every regard. they understood what i needed and provided it. i will mke this my car shop now, for all needed repair and maintenance such as oil changes... they earned my future business
