This is a small operation that specializes in BMWs. Doreen and John are the owners and they are fantastic. John has over 20 years experience working on BMWs, knows the cars intimately, advises on preventative maintenance, and can diagnose any problem. I have found them to be extremely honest, detailed in their work, thorough, and concerned about customer service. Also, they give good advice on how to keep BMWs running and well maintained.

John Elsen has worked on my BMW's for years and I trust very few people besides myself to work on my vehicles. I have 7 vehicles so I know cars and I know what makes for a great tech. I'll do my old Mustangs myself and even my wife's Audi Cab, but John always gets the nod for my BMW's. I've found that BMW's require a little more "been there, done that" practical experience than other brands and the experience that John brings to the table is unbeatable. I can trust that John will be absolutely straight with me on what my 540i Sport needs and doesn't need. I can also trust that he will give a fair price for the work needed. If years of solid experience, honesty, great work ethic and friendly neighborhood specialty shop feel is what you are looking for in a BMW tech then look no further than Elsen's Autohuaus.

I couldn't answer how John and Doreen (and now their son) respond when they screw up, because they haven't screwed up. If you need a ride home or to work while they work on the car, Doreen will gladly give you a ride. They remember your name and are really pleasant people who go out of their way to work with their customers. I haven't had any major repairs on my 325i --oil changes, brakes, and so on--and Eisen's emphasis on preventative work is a factor.

I see some of the posts are older, so I wanted to weigh in with a recent example of the excellent service that John and Doreen bring to their BMW customers. I first brought my newly-purchased-used 2005 325i for a lookover a few years ago, and John took a good couple hours to check it out, review what is what, make some minor adjustments to the computer, swap out some fluids, create a record of condition, and really explain how BMWs operate, what to watch for, and generally go over why they are such great cars. I've been back a few times for oil changes, brake work, suspension, and minor maintenance, and each time, John makes a record of how things are going, what will need updating and when, and what must be done vs what can wait - he monitors the condition of the car like a doctor would a patient. Since I've been going, he has built his garage into a first class operation, adding staff as needed, but still paying very close attention to each vehicle and customer that pulls in. Fair, knowledgeable, good-humored - all the attributes one would want in a quality specialist.
