Fred is well known for fixing the problem without trying to sell you on unnecessary repairs. Most of the University employees go to him because of his reputation for good work.

Larry at Fred's was very willing to analyze the problem rather than just throw parts at it. They wer very willing to make arrangemnets to for me to pick up the car after business hours. A very pleasant car fixing experience. I am now a regular at Fred's even though it is about 25 miles from my house.

They did work on my son's car who is away at collage. I didn't have any previous experience with Fred's, but they worked out just fine. I chose them based on the Car Talk web site information about them, and it was accurate. I will use them again if needed.

I have been taking my cars to Fred's since 1996. I have never felt they made any unnecessary repairs nor overcharged me. And the work they do do fixes the problem. What more can you ask for?

I found Fred's from the Mechanic's files on this website. The shop is conveniently located across from the university, where I work, so I can just walk to work after dropping the car off in the morning. Fred's is a family-run business, not one of these corporate joints that only cares about turning quick profits. Larry, Cheryl & Chris run an honest business. If something doesn't need fixed, they tell you. I once took my car in for a tune-up, and Larry called back and said the car really didn't need one; the plugs looked good (the air filter was nasty and needed changed) and the wires were fine, and he spared me the expense of something I didn't need. I've never had to take something back to have it fixed a second time. They guarantee their parts and workmanship for a year--some of the corporate outfits only do 60-90 days. My car is 20 years old, but Larry and Chris keep it in good shape. I'd rather not have to see any mechanic at all, but as long as I do, I'll keep going to Fred's.
