They are honest about price and necessity, even if it costs
them business. I have had a good relationship with them for
the past 15 years with the family van, an old jaguar, kia
sportage, chrysler lebaron, chrysler slx, ford 150, and
mazda 626. All were 4-10 years old.

The best part about this shop is that it's one of Columbus'
hidden gems; if they got a lot of attention they may have to
move to a high profile shop in the suburbs and triple their
labor rates. But the fact is, this is a crummy little shop
in a crummy little section of town. You'll recognize the
joint when you spot a dozen or more jalopies parked in their
lot, some permanently. But don't let this charade fool you;
Evan's Auto Repair represents one of the last of a dying
breed of small, independent, and yes, HONEST, shops in
America. Dave Evans and his son James, along with a few
other long-standing veterans, are not the toothless
knuckle-scraping neanderthals you may expect to see at a
small shop like this, but they aren't the guys in the white
lab coats and clipboards either. What they are, are a bunch
of honest, hard-working guys who shoot you straight and
offer a quick turnaround on most routine work. Their prices
are reasonable (they order from NAPA and not CarQuest, so
that should tell you something), and yet are sometimes
willing to install salvage yard parts if you supply them.
And did I mention honest? I've walked away from these guys
after a simple fix at no charge more than a few times.
Think you can get this treatment at a dealership or chain,
matey? What's most impressive to me, however, is how a
little shop like this has managed to keep up with the
growing technology that dominates newer cars and trucks. So
give these guys a call and support the independent shops
-they have boat payments too, you know!

I have used this shop for both my buick lesabre and my
ford pick up and either James or his dad Dave have been
able to figure out the problem quickly and repair it at
very fair prices.
There have been numerous occasions that they could have
told me I needed more repairs or replacement and I would
have never known, but they are honest and knowledgable.I
have learned to trust them 100% and refer family to them.
I have never felt I was being treated any differently
because I'm female, unlike many other shops I have dealt
with.
Dave has been in the same location for over 40 years! I
feel very fortunate to have found these guys.

This shop is amazing. I have taken many vehicle here, and
every time they wow me with their diagnostic and repair
quality. In just one example I took a car there with (what
I thought was) a major motor problem that was termed
"unrepairable" by a national repair chain. Not only did
they repair it, the bill came in under $800. Ever since
then, I have taken or influenced others to take their
vehicles for repair there. Just today, I took a car in with
a shady estimate of over $1700 at one shop - Evans found the
real problem, and it cost me under $400!

They are personable, honest people that you can trust - and
that is hard to find these days!

I took my Ford Focus in to get both rear wheel bearings checked out. These guys were great; they explained everything that was going on and were extremely fair on the price (much lower than what other shops were quoting me). They were able to do a one day turnaround with my car, and so far it has been running perfectly. Would gladly return to this friendly shop again.
