I found The Lusty Wrench from some online reviews (before I even heard of Car Talk), because I was wary of taking my car to just any mechanic, being a female with limited knowledge of cars. I've been satisfied with the work they've done in the 5 years that I have been in Cleveland. I have to move soon and will be sad that I have to find a new mechanic whom I trust. Sam always takes time to explain everything and is very patient while doing so, even when it's late and he could be going home. I sincerely appreciate their honesty and hard work. I hope that's an example to other places that duplicity is not the way to win customers or get ahead in life. I highly recommend The Lusty Wrench to anyone who wants a skilled and trustworthy mechanic to take care of their car.

Sam and his staff have been taking care of my cars for years. One time a skunk got caught up in the fan belt of my old Tempo! I think that was the only time they kept my car longer than a day or two. Sam said they had to let it sit out with the hood open and hose it down a few times each day before they could stand the smell! I couldn't blame them, either.

Sam was just named the Delmar/Cengage Learning ASE Technician of the Year. And his head *almost* still fits inside his bike helmet!

After not owning a car for 8 years, I was a little nervous about finding a mechanic. But Sam's personality and work ethic made me feel so much better, and I know my car is in good hands when I take it in. He's like my own personal Car Talk!

Sam, the owner, is excellent. The first time I walked in his shop he was talking about the need to increase the gas tax so people would use more efficient vehicles. He calls and updates you on what they find with your car, explains options and costs. He explains current needed repairs, as well as what you are looking at down the road. I drive a '99 Saturn, and he gave me a timeline of when different parts would likely need to be repaired and when I should look to get a new car because repairs would become too costly. As a female, I have often been frustrated by being talked down to by mechanics, but never had that problem at the Lusty Wrench and have encouraged both male and female friends to use the shop with the same result. Excellent service from wonderful people.

Sam is the most well-informed, trustworthy mechanic I have ever encountered. I brought my Toyota Prius to him after having bad experiences with the lousy mechanics at the dealer, Toyota Motorcars. I did not need major work done on the car, but I brought it to Sam for oil changes and check-ups. When the starter battery in the hybrid died, Sam stayed open late while I had the car towed to his shop, ordered the right parts based on my description of the problem over the phone, and had the car up and running the next morning. That kind of first class service is rare. I also brought our older car, a 2001 Mazda Protege to Sam for brake job and other service and he did a great job.

I took my car to a national chain of garages and had a very negative experience (they would not replace my lifetime brakes until I "needed" new rotors!). More than a little frustrated, I decided to check out the Car Talk Mechanics Files and stumbled upon the Lusty Wrench. After reading the reviews and browsing their website, I decided to try them out, and now I will never go to another mechanic as long as I live in Cleveland. The staff is very up-front with what needs immediate attention and what can wait. They explain everything very well and aren't on a commission, so they don't push you to buy things you don't want. How did I get all of this from a brake job? It turns out the brakes were the least of my concerns- the staff found severe structural damage (the other place didn't even notice) and warned me it was time to look for a new car. Bad news, but great mechanics.

My check engine light was on for YEARS, and mechanics I went to tried to take short cuts and nothing ever cleared the code. Finally the guys at Lusty Wrench got rid of it for me, and fixed an alignment issue that I'd thought was taken care of by another mechanic months ago. When it suddenly reappeared, LW got me in the shop promptly (it was unsafe to drive with the alignment issue) and had the work completed days before anticipated. I'll certainly use them in the future.
