Siggy doesn't have the CD ROMs of repair information which are available. I don't think he needs them. He works on any type of car, and seems to know the quirks of them all. Nearly everyone at my company takes their car to him. When I asked about the timing chain on my Nissan Sentra's engine, he relayed the story of what a pain in the but it is to replace those, and how the seal around the chain is glued on and difficult to replace. Good thing they're supposed to last the life of the engine. Also, he knows where to get the best parts fast, so repairs almost always take less than a day. As I used to have an '88 Honda with front rotor problems, I quizzed him. He knew the design problem was in the hub, and the rotor would warp along with the hub when you tightened the lug nuts.

You can ask a lot of dumb questions and they'll take the time to answer them and not make you feel like an idiot. They try hard to not sell you something you don't need. Extremely honest, competent, reliable, reasonable prices- What else could you ask for? OK, there is no Starbucks accross the street, but there are a couple of deli's where you can get coffee and a bagel if you're waiting for your car. S&W recently moved to 302 Saw Mill River Road, (Palmer Road exit off the Saw Mill River Parkway), in Yonkers, same phone-914-476-4134.

Siggy was great. I tried another place first. S & W did all the work plus I got another pair of tires for 3/4th of the price the other shop quoted. They were friendly, professional and streight up about the problems. I had one very loud problem that Siggy could have easily charged me $250 to fix but he found a free solution. Bubblegum.. No I'm joking. He fixed my exhaust leak for free. The other shop wanted to replace the muffler and (i guess) other parts of the exhaust system. I highly reccommend them. -dylan

When you need your car fixed right the first time at a fair price this is the Repair Station you are looking for! Ask for Bruce or Sigi. (914) 476-4134 302 Saw Mill River Road , Yonkers NY 10701

I've been bringing my car[s] to Siggy for almost 20 years. When I lived in NYC he was recommended by a friend. I would drive up to Yonkers from the city for every oil change or any other servicing. Now I drive 4 miles to his shop [I now live in Westchester]. I think if I lived in Buffalo I would still bring my car here! Always honest, reasonable and would rather cut off his hand than overcharge you! I have brought my LeCar, Honda Civic wagon, used Toyota Corolla hatchback, and now I bring my Toyota Corolla wagon & Honda Accord. The only reason I had to replace any previous cars was if they were totaled in an accident or had more than 250,000 miles on the odometer. Every car of mine that's been serviced here has run like a top for the life of the car. I think Siggy should run for President!

If you are lucky enough to find Ziggy, consider yourself blessed. He is honest and you will find that you save about 50% of what it would cost to have the work done by a dealer. It is not so much that his hourly rate is so much different but he doesn't invent things that must be done. He does what is needed to keep the car in good shape and he is a great guy to deal with. May he live a long and happy life.

I just dropped off my Buick there this morning (probably needs a new starter), and Bruce took down a buncha information for their new computer database. They just bought a new system with all the diagnostic CDs, so S&W will be able to provide even BETTER service now. I'm told that, among other things, I'll get e-mailed reminders when it's time to bring the car in for inspection. I hate to think how many times I've missed that date, despite the sticker (with the date on it) being in front of my face every day!

I found Siggy through this web site and frankly it was a great find. This an opinion that is shared by all who go there. They are honest and do what is necessary to keep ones car running well.

This guy was great. Easily the best mechanic I've ever dealt with. The man knows cars and is incredibly thorough. Also, very courteous, professional and takes the time to explain to the automotively-impaired what went wrong with the car in the first place. First time I've ever felt like maybe I was undercharged.

I have had problems with my '98 VW golf for the last four years and have gone to many people, almost all of whom tried to rip me off, especially the VW dealership in Brooklyn. Then I went to Sigi's shop and was immediately impressed. Upon telling him I was having a problem, even though he was working on a car that had a lot more problems than he had first been notified about, he drove my car around the block to see if he could diagnose the situation. He said that though he couldn't fix the problem (a problem with the wheel bearings) right away, he would set up an appointment within two days. When I brought it back to him, he fixed the problem in half the time he said it would take and charged a very reasonable amount. Though he originally said he didn't like working with VWs, he replaced my wheel bearings and an obnoxious thrumming caused by a misplaced clamp on the exhaust pipe quickly and easily, explaining everything he did as he went along. I would recommend him to anyone.
