I was never able to find a mechanic I could trust until I took my vehicle to Searles Garage 12 years ago. I have been going back ever since with all my vehicles, and have NEVER been dissapointed. It is a family garage, so they really take pride in their work and reputation.

Grandpa Searles is always there and a pleasure to visit and pick his brain.

Honest, fair, competent and could you ask for anything more from a car repair garage! I often feel like they could have charged so much more for the work that they did (anyplace else would for sure).

My brake job (from another mechanic) was only 2 months old when my front left brake assembly started squealing. I pulled into the garage at 2pm on a Friday hoping for the best. I explained the problem to the mechanic on duty (young guy) and added that I'd jacked my van this morning to rotate the wheel and isolate the location of the noise. He remarked that he was busy and his lifts were full, but decided to take a look anyway. He stopped what he was doing on another car to look at mine right away. In 10 minutes flat he'd fixed the problem: a dent in the shield on the inward-facing side of the rotor. He showed me what was wrong and how to fix it myself next time, bent it back into place for me, and put my wheel back on. When I asked him what I could pay him, he asked me for $5. I have him $10 and a hug, explaining I needed to tow a trailer the next morning and he'd completely made my day. I will be back! Important: If approaching from the south, Google maps will direct you to take a steep, winding, narrow, seasonal-use dirt road called Notch Hill. DO NOT ATTEMPT DURING WINTER OR WITH A TRAILER. Instead, head north on County Road 103 from NY 17C. The garage is 2.6 miles down on your left.
