Mikhail Levin-owner of Capitol Mechanics, treated me very fairly. I have a classic 900 SAAB that needed some work. For the repairs that I could perform myself, Mikhail actually gave me a lot of used parts and advice to get my SAAB in working order again. I also have a couple of friends that have taken their SAABs to him as well, and they have been completely satisfied with the service they received. I would not hesitate to take my SAAB back to him. Sincerely, TH Greenfield Center, NY

Mike will readily discuss not only YOUR car, but seems to enjoy discussing automotive mechanics in general, and is very forthcoming with information. He never seems like he's trying to get away from you, and will answer any and all questions you have. In fact, he'll usually give you so much information that it amounts to a lesson. I find it reassuring that he practically shows off about how much he knows about your car. I trust these guys.

Mike can elaborate on any aspect of any component or repair, and is very forthcoming with information on any questions you might have. Mike's the kind of old school professional that actually takes pride in his work; I trust this shop.

For the previous 135,000 miles I had experienced wildly erratic rise and fall of my Elantra's idle RPMs when the car was in Park. I had taken the car to the dealer twice, to two national repair chains, and to another local independent mechanic. Usually, each repair shop insisted that the culprit was a defective throttle position sensor. I had it replaced twice to no effect. One time, the dealer suggested that the culprit was a leaking intake manifold gasket. Another expensive and ineffective repair. I had spent nearly a thousand dollars over the years with no results. Then a friend suggested I take it to Capitol Mechanics. They listened to me, they were not dismissive, they took the time to trace the problem, and they found the problem -- an incorrect wiring connection in the wiring harness, which had been "repaired" by the dealer for another problem prior to the onset of the erratic idle. Kudos to Capitol Mechanics for their knowledge, skill, and fair price.

Capitol Mechanics was awesome. They looked at a problem that I was having with my power steering fluid, and instead of a massive costly repair, they recommended simply topping off the fluid and testing for a leak over teh next week or so. I haven't had a problem in two months so far, and they reviewed the work a week later, saying "we're probably good for a long while and the leak if any is minimal. Come back if it changes." Who does that - turning down a perfectly good opportunity to rake a customer over the coals and not stealing their wallet too? Jeesh, who wants such good customer service? I was so confused by the good service that I went back a week later and also got treated amazingly for a 45,000 mile checkup. Again, little issues that I could have taken as major (read: wallet stealing!) were brushed off and fixed and no additional charge from their already lower-than-dealer checkup fees. My world has gone topsy turvy with such treatment. I'm sure that I'll still be reeling from it when I go back again for my next service. And the service after that, too.
