Steve & Jay are brothers. They are excellent, qualified mechanics. They have worked on our cars (2 Nissan, 2 Hondas, Saturn, Nova, Cavilier, Ford) for 20 years, since '81. I would never consider changing shops. They are impeccable.

Good, honest, long time family run business.

When I called because my car wouldn't start, Steve was a little gruff on the phone. I had to get my car towed. He said he didn't know how much time he had to look at my not-starting car because he had other cars to look at. But when I arrived, they were only working on one other car. They did a very good job diagnosing what was wrong: it turned out to be an electronic problem. They also did some other minor things for me. I was kind of surprised, since they didn't ask first before diving into other minor work that wasn't directly related to my car not starting. I was kind of intimidated at the total cost. I'm not from New York, but $85/hr for labor seemed a bit steep. But over all, I was pleased with the experience and my car works great again now. They fixed a problem that another mechanic had misdiagnosed and Steve seemed to care genuinely about getting me back on the road.

my girlfriend has a nissan pathfinder that has about 33,000 miles on it, so she figured by now it should need brakes. i took the truck to hackers service and told them to do whatever was needed , i received a call later that day saying the brakes were fine and did not need to be replaced. when so many shops would just have replaced the brakes to make money ,it is great to know there is still an honest place to bring your car, that will repair ONLY what needs to be done.

I am a single woman who freely admits that I know nothing-and I mean nothing!-about cars. But I do know EXACTLY what I want from the place where I have my car serviced: honesty, integrity, and excellent service. I have consistently found all three at Hacker and Son's. Thanks,'re the best!

hacker & sons in new rochelle, ny 10801 i had a tune up at at 74000 miles in may 2008. at 105000 the check engine light started to blink one night and the engine began to knock pretty hard. this was in december 2010. we had the car towed home and our current mechanic says that the car had cheap parts (ie. not genuine honda parts) installed at the last tune up and that those parts (specifically ignition wires?) failed. i'll admit i know nothing about cars or how long parts are supposed to last, and that my car has had at least a couple maintenance services, though not a tune up, since moving. however, if you go to hacker and sons for a tune up, you may want to make sure they use genuine parts. besides this, i went here for a couple of years and was pretty happy with. even though they were a little pricey they were comparable to other shops in the area, and they were good about fitting me in.
