Art's is a family business that does not advertise but runs on a word of mouth basis. I started with them more than 110 years ago and have always felt that they were honest and stood by their work. I have owned Ford, Olds, Mercedes, Dodge and Chrysler. He has worked on them all as well as testing used cars we were interested in buying. It is over 20 miles to his shop but worth the peace of mind knowing that I won't get ripped off and if it isn't right he will make it right.

Art gives you all the explanation you want. You get the feeling when describing your problem that he's actually thinking about it. He's also fun to talk to and friendly. I wish I still lived in Ithaca, so he could still be my mechanic.

Art is wonderful -- explains things, etc. He does my Subaru and my husband's Ford Taurus. I got my son a 1997 Subaru Legacy, which Art checked out before my som drove it to Montana, where he attends college. Whenever he has a problem with his car in Montana, I always "double check" with Art -- when the Bozeman Subaru dealer saw a teenage boy drive in (on NY plates), they tried to say there was an expensive problem. Upon hearing the story, Art said no way, it was much simpler (and cheaper). And it was!!

This is a family business with Art and Sandy managing and various sons, daughters and in-laws joining in. Open only on weekdays but work from before 8 am until after 5 most days and often have later hours on Thursday nights. They are a little out of the way and don't help with transportation but they have a waiting room if you must wait. They will also interrupt their work-flow to do a diagnosis in emergencies and work you in if you really need the vehicle. Art and crew have diagnosed and repaired some very tough little glitches with our 1993 Toyota Previa. It now has 253K miles and is running strong.
