Unfortunately, Larry has passed away... However, he has
left his mark on his great team of mechanics and of course
Steve will carry on his legacy. They are a class act from
top to bottom. The only place on earth I would send my
wife or daughter for a repair and not worry.

These guys are the best. They've treated my Volvo's for
many years. I once brought in a 760 that would stall out
on me for no reason. Sounded like fuel shortage to me and
I asked the Late Larry Scher to "replace both fuel pumps"
to make sure the problem was solved. He said he could do
it, but it would be a "shotgun" approach. He would rather
find the real problem. It was a corroded wire. Any other
mechanic in the World would have gratefully replaced both
fuel pumps to make a buck.

These guys are the best. In addtion to having them
complete some significant repairs, I have taken my car
there a few times with some very minor things that they
have fixed on the spot with no charge. They have always
ben honest with me, and the first time I brought my car
there they explained to me that I had a "near miss,
and "you saved yourself 400 dollars" because if I had
driven my car "even one more day" the needed repairs would
have been much more costly. what mechanic tells you that
you DONT need to spend the extra money because you got it
to the garage on time. I know several people who have
their cars repaired at Larrys and I know of no one who has
ever had a complaint. They do charge a bit more than
others for hourly labor, but only slightly more and its
worth it!!

My wife and I have been using Larry's since 1997 for our
1990 Acura Integra, and also for our 2003 Honda Odyssey for
the last two years. They are great for large and small
repairs, as well as normal service. They are a little more
expensive for normal service since they don't do it as a
loss leader, but you more than make it up on other work
done, and on unneeded work not done.

WOW! I called to schedule work before moving to California
and they couldn't get me in, so they spent ten minutes
giving me advice on what work should be done and how not to
get scammed by other mechanics. They knew they weren't
getting any money from me, and I still got exemplary
customer service!!! It's rare to find someone who would
take that kind of time to help out a total stranger with no
apparent payoff, which is why I'm here telling you all that
they deserve all the business they get.

Excellent Job! After having taken my car for Air
Conditioning repair to 2 dealers who gave different
answers (one estimating the cost of repair up to $3744,
the other could diagnose the problem, but couldnt figure
out how to fix- both had 'experienced' mechanics from the
Toyota or Lexus dealer working on them), I went to
cartalk.com & found Larry's Foriegn Auto for a 2nd
opinion. He was booked, so it took a week to get in but
worth the wait. After an extensive examination, Steve
believed the likely culprit was a pressure sensor/switch
that only costs $110 for the part. It was worth a try to
save $3500! Well, he tried it and afterward gave it
extensive pressure testing to be sure. The operation was
a success!! Even with the labor, and paying a rental car
(Larry's auto does not give rentals), I still saved over
$3000!! Larry went to extensive lenghths to explain the
problem to me, and even a second follow up call to explain
the tests he ran afterward to ensure a quality repair
after the dealer incorrectly theorized Larry's fix would
likely not last more than a few days (Over a week and
blowing air colder than ever-I guess nothing succeeds like
success). I am nominating Steve at Larry's for the golden
wrench for saving me so much.

The guys at Larry's are great. They always take the time to
explain what's wrong with my car, whether it actually needs
to be fixed, and to answer any questions I may have. I even
called them up once when I was out of town and thought that
I was being overcharged for an emergency repair recommended
by another mechanic, and their advice ended up saving me
over $200! I really appreciate that level of service. They
also test-drive the vehicles they service, which Click and
Clack recently cited as one of the best ways to determine
the health of a car, and diagnose any symptoms reported by a
customer.
The only thing which is not so convenient about their shop
is that they are often quite busy and it can take a few days
to get an appointment for regular stuff - snow tire
changeovers, oil changes, etc. If you call in advance,
you're fine. But if you're headed out of town the next day
and you suddenly remember you need service, you might not be
able to get in. They're honest about it, though, and will
tell you what their next available time is.
Everyone at this shop has a really good attitude, and I
always feel comfortable there. I highly recommend them!

I can't say enough good things about Larry's Foreign Auto.
Steve and his crew are consummate professionals who treat
their customers with compassion and respect. I found Larry's
through these mechanic files 3 years ago and would never,
ever, take my car anywhere else.
Steve makes an effort to have customers understand the
problem and offers honest advice on the best/least expensive
fix. While I was in grad school, he advised me to put off a
non-crucial repair until I could afford it. These guys do
fantastic work for fair prices.
Having Larry's is just another reason for me to be
Honda-loyal. I've turned several other friends onto this
shop, and they all feel the same.

There is a reason why these guys have a cult following. I
have never met a shop that is so honest, competent, and nice
to customers. Even though I know nothing about cars, Steve
is always so patient about explaining things to me. Not
only are they good at diagnosing problems and making
repairs, but they are also great about telling you when
something does not need to be fixed to avoid unnecessary
repairs. I recommend this place to everyone, and I will
never go anywhere else! The only negative things are that
they don't offer shuttle service and that it can be
difficult to get them on the phone, because Steve is so busy
chatting with customers in the waiting area. However, they
are pretty good about returning phone calls, and I'd rather
get their full attention when I'm in the shop than prompt
phone answering service.
