I have been taking my & my wife's cars to Gerry Smith since 1983 (Chevys, Fords, Mercurys & Saturns). Early on I recall a problem with our 82 Chevette starting. I wanted to put in a new carburator; Gerry advised there were less expensive things he could try first--and wouldn't charge me until the damn thing was fixed (short of replacing the carborator, incidentally). Most recently our 97 Saturn needed a rod bearing fixed (engine replacement was cheaper). Gerry properly diagnosed the problem, said he could do it but advised for warantee reasons we might want to go to the dealer--turning aside big bucks for himself. He's honest, skilled and he cares. What more could one want? I can't imagine searching for another mechanic.

Incredibly Honest. on one occasion my brother-in-law had to replace a steel wheel with a snow tire and was quoted a price over $110 more at a nearby chain store. Gerry gave me a quote over the phone which we agreed to. After all was said and done, he said that he was able to find the wheel for $10 less than he had expected, and so charged us less, even though we had agreed to pay the original price (which was already substatially less than the chain-store price) The shop is spacious, well lit, and located just off Delaware Ave in downtown Buffalo. No loaner car/shuttle, but still a fantastic place.

well.. i have had a couple of clunkers and every time the clunking becomes more than i can take, they give it to me straight! That is all you can ask for. one time in particular i was facing (what i had thought) was a bad clutch and had already asked my prevoius garage, and they had adimatly defended that i needed a new turned out to be a $65 hose that was causing my engine to "hic-up" in there description. i recomend them to everyone i can!

Fantastic Service. Always willing to go the extra mile to explain what's wrong with your car. I have recommended these guys to every friend I have who's had a car problem, and they have without exception come back to me to thank them for the tip. After so many dealings with them (and so many nightmares with other shops) I am absolutely confident that Gil and Gerry are doing the right thing when it comes to my car. It's so nice to be totally trust your mechanic.

Gerry was polite, to the point, and efficient. My car was experincing some brake difficulties, stuttering whenever applied, and with a scheduled trip the following weekend, it was necessary to get in and get it fixed before my weekend away. Not only did he take in my car spur of the moment, which is about two weeks sooner than the dealer could accomadate. He found no real problem with the brakes, only dust, which was causing the problem, and didn't even charge me for the look and the cleaning. Fantastic guy, and better than I could have hoped for. My father has used him in the past and has had all good things to say also. Just give him a call and he will help you out!

Great place. Great service. Great price. What more could you ask for. Just remember when getting there, Edwards is a one way street and 9am is not a good time to go down it the wrong way.
