When this business started over 5 years ago, I was a bit worried about going there but a change in job required that I find a new mechanic, and this one was very close to my house. On my first visit to this place, the owner/mechanic seemed a bit laid back, and the low labor rate especially had me worried. When this guy is only charging $45/hr (rate hasn't changed in 5 years) and my old mechanic was at about $70/hr and rising one wonders. To really show how ridiculous rates are getting Monroe Muffler started posting labor rates in half hours ($55/half hour). The more I went there, the more I loved this place. There is not much this guy can't fix, and if he doesn't feel comfortable doing a job he will tell you. He is what a friend of mind would affectionately call a "junkyard mechanic". If he couldn't get a part, or the part was too expensive, he might suggest a different way of fixing the problem. Not only does he fix a problem, but he goes the extra step to help prevent the issue in the future such as by better sealing the area to prevent moisture from getting in or something leaking out, etc. One of the things that shows he is not out to screw you is that if a part is too expensive he will suggest alternatives rather than charge you too much. On more than one occasion he has handed me listings from eBay for the parts I needed (new of course) at a much lower price than he would have to pay and let you get the parts yourself and come back later to have them installed. Lastly, I can't remember the car not being done on the day he tells me to bring in the car, unless there is a parts issue. Prompt service, quality work, extremely fair prices (I once paid him MORE than he asked because he went out of his way to do a job for me on short notice), and an honest mechanic..... What's not to like?
