I've been listening to Car Talk for years. From them I
learned that the best auto mechanic is one who has been
around for at least two decades, just to start. The mechanic
should be able to get to the point in just a few seconds
when talking to you, as if they've already dealt with your
problem hundreds of times. Also, If you are really lucky,
the boss of the shop should also be from the northeastern
part of the USA!
So when me and my guy's '99 Taurus sprung a coolant leak, I
took a LOT of time researching who in Vegas could possibly
measure up to the Car Talk mechanic standard. Took awhile,
but finally I found Car Doctor.
- In business locally for over 20 years: check. Work
guaranteed: check.
- Mechanic got to the point FAST when I talked to them: check.
- Northeastern accent: check! ;)
They sent a mobile mechanic out to test the leak in the
driveway. Diagnosis: radiator needed replacement. The
mobile mechanic let us know that if we bought our own
radiator at Autozone or whatever, it would be cheaper than
if they got the radiator for us. They also quoted us a labor
charge that was $100 less then any of their competition.
Whoa... they actually cared about our predicament with that
kind of pricing. Excellent.
Then the mobile mechanic told us the owner was from Long
Island, NY. I cracked up. THAT was just too perfect. :)
So we went ahead and got the car fixed at Auto Doctor. Even
with the tow charge from our home to their shop, I was
IMPRESSED at how the final charge was even cheaper than they
originally quoted. I had asked to get the brakes fixed. They
ultimately let us know that our brakes were actually OK and
didn't need fixing. Wow.
The car has been running WONDERFULLY ever since. Thanks to
Click and Clack for showing me the way, and thanks to the
folks at Car Doctor for setting the standard for all
mechanics in Las Vegas. :)

Excellent service and result. They were my second opinion after I questioned the multiple unreasonable issues and costs I received from another mechanic. They were honest, fair and timely. My car is running great. I'm very greatful for them. I will definitely go back.
