This shop did a pre-purchase review on our 91 Toyota wagon. They gave a thumbs up and a SCREENING which was more comprehensive than anything that I had ever experienced with a used car. They did various work on the vehicle and kept it running excellent. This shop takes the time to explain what they are doing and why. They keep all the parts from your car and show you what was replaced and why it was required. I strongly agree with another comment written about the absence of gender bias with customers. The only bad part is that we now live 4 hours away and need them to move to Durango,CO!!

The owners treat my car as if they care about it as much as they would their own cars. I never feel unsure about doing anything that is recommended - Stephan has told me, more than once, that something could wait - "It doesn't need to be done yet. Let's wait until your next service appointment." I feel like I am taking my car to my cousin or something, meaning that I totally trust them to take care of me, although I know them only as a customer of the shop. Their new facility is pleasant to wait in, too, which is nice when the service time is going to be short. My next car will certainly be a Toyota so I can continue to come here for my car maintenance. (Too bad they won't take care of Hondas! Now I need to convince my husband to buy a Toyota, too!)

This is the best shop around, period. These fabulous folks have fixed nagging engine and electrical problems in my dear old '84 Landcruiser wagon that several other shops had attempted to solve over the years. All of the mechanics here are extremely efficient and exceedingly nice and caring about all of their customers. Women especially seem to love Toy Auto Man, given the fact that the couple who runs it--Stephen and Claudia--are so nice and honest, and always take the time to explain each and every question in full detail. They take as good care of their mechanics as their customers (the shop is closed on Fridays), so the attitude is always cheery and customers always seem to leave in a very good mood, even on the worst of bad car days. Perhaps the best qualities of Toy Auto Man are their completely thorough vehicle inspections and reports on the present condition and future needs of your vehicle or on a prospective used buy. Their bulletin board serves as a first rate marketplace for buyers and sellers of used Toyotas, and there are some great deals here. Customers learn a lot about their cars here and the shop's conservative repair philosophy and maintenance reports will save you a great deal of both money and worry in the long run. OEM parts are extremely well stocked on immaculate shelves, and Stephen will inspect and go over worn parts with customers before discarding anything. His attention to detail and bedside manner is unrivaled. If you don't buy a Toyota or Lexus because it's one of the best running vehicles money can buy, get one so that when it isn't running so good, you can come here and get the best service around.

I brought in a 1988 Toyota Corolla FX with 160,000 miles and they treated both me and the car with a great deal respect...despite the fact that common wisdom would have ditched the car. These guys remember you on a first name basis, and always spend time giving a detailed description of the problems they encounter (even showing you the old parts they replaced). Stephen is very supportive and helpful of do-it yourself mechanics, and seems to take pleasure in giving people advice. I have since moved out of State (and I miss them very much) but on a recent visit, stopped in to say hi. Stephen gave me a spare repair manual to aid in my repair ambitions.

I have been a Toy Auto Man customer for 20 years. The original owner, Frank, was ornery, but he was a superb mechanic who insisted on quality work even if he routinely fired customers he didn't like. The current owners, Stephen and Claudia, bought the business over a decade ago. They did away with Frank's system of paying mechanics based on their productivity and hired really great mechanics as full-time employees (with good benefits). The only problem with their business is that they are often booked well in advance so last minute repairs are problematic if not impossible. But they do really excellent work at reasonable rates and are always prompt. They are also lovely people. Their spotless and comfy waiting room has wifi, coffee and cookies (no cell phones allowed). I am an informed and particular customer and I love doing business with these people. In fact, I would pay more than they currently charge for the pleasure of the relationship.
