This shop repairs Volvos and nothing else. For Volvos off warranty this is as good as it gets. Robert does free diagnostic and gives you a list of items rated from most to least important. If he doesn't think a repair is worth it, he doesn't do it much less recommend it. It's a bit of a haul from NYC, but convenient to NJ Transit bus or jitney back to Port Authority. Robert is a Volvo fanatic; he lives and breathes Volvos. He is honest and very professional.

Robert is honest and knowledgeable. The best mechanic we've had and he really cares about his customers. We wouldn't take our Volvo anywhere else. Also, in large part because of his service (and not the Volvo dealership), we will likely buy another Volvo.

Robert is a little eccentric but definately knows Volvo's. He fixed my transmission problem the first time for about 1/10th the amount that Volvo wanted to charge for a rebuilt transmission. My car has never shifted as well as it does now. He will take as much time as you would like to chat. He loves kids and is very friendly. His shop is not exactly beautiful, but his work is top notch and very reasonably priced. (old Volvo's are stuffed in every nook and cranny.)

Although a bit chauvinistic and arrogant, excellent mechanic, and had my car running extremely well on my time!

I broke down on a Friday afternoon just before Christmas. I called my friend, who found Robert through the Mechanic Files, and had my '88 240 towed to his shop. Even though he was already slammed and trying to finish his week, he got right to work on my car, and stayed after hours to fix it. And, when I realized I might not have enough money to pay for the repair, he offered to let me drive off and mail him a check--absolutely unbelievable. He went above and beyond to get my car running and get me back on the road. Then, a few months later, when my car was having some issues, I called Robert to ask about the repair I'd had done. He identified the problem over the phone, and when he realized that part of the new problem was the result of his work, he not only told me how to fix it, but also offered to fix it for free next time I was in the area. Robert is a fantastic mechanic, and was a pleasure to work with.

I found a V70 on a second hand lot, drove it to Robert who test drove it that same day, and gave me a good idea of the value and repairs needed to make it run good. I was able to buy the car for a lot less than the asking price because of him. The following week he did all the necessary work to make it a perfectly running car. Super friendly and knowledgeable, fast service, great value.

I have been a contented customer for over 10 years. Robert is a walking Volvo encyclopedia and is always willing to share his knowledge. He is able to diagnose problems quickly and correctly (95% of the time). He always takes cost (materials and labor) under consideration (put a non-Volvo side mirror on my daughter's car thereby saving us over $200) and has carried a balance due for me. He is a kind man who will always give one a drive to work or keep the shop open an extra 1/2 hour so you can pick up your car. Best of all if someone is thinking about buying a used Volvo Robert will evaluate it for free! The shop area is a used Volvo graveyard viewed as whimsical by some.

Robert is not just a mechanic, but a person who understands his customers. He is considerate and respectful. He took the time to listen to me and then discussed his method of fixing. And by the way, he repaired my car while having a non-automotive conversation with me and bought me lunch...super smart guy! In all my years of working with mechanics, this was by far the best experience. It made me feel comfortable knowing that he is here to support my Volvo.
