With Carworks doing repairs and maintenance I'm comfortable
driving my old car all around Boston and up and down 495.
It seems that everything is taken care of at inspection
time, and then I'm good to go for another year. Highly
recommended.

Carworks is the only place I will ever bring my car. Poor
John and the crew have been dealing with my junkers for 17
years. I am perfectly comfortable giving John carte blanche
when it comes to the repairs. The guys are always honest and
tell you the problems in order of importance. John will
always give you multiple options for repairs if they exist
and give you his recommendations. If John doesn't know the
answer he will research it and let you know. Everytime I get
a "new" car I take it to Carworks for inspection, and I know
if it passes there that I will be safe.
Recently my Honda CRV was shimmying on the road at certain
speeds and I was worried that perhaps a new tranny was
needed, but John recommended a tranny fluid flush and now
all is better than well. Cost was around $100, but my peace
of mind was priceless.... John is also a VERY funny man and
I have always felt that he should be a guest mechanic on Car
Talk. Let's everyone who reads this write to Car Talk to
have John as a guest mechanic on the show.

Took my 2005 Toyota to the local dealership for a annual
inspection and was told it did not pass because of several
issues. Without going into the gory details, I was very
dissatisfied with the analysis and recommended remedies, to
put it mildly!
Took it to CARWORKS and was please, in this day of 24/7
SPIN, not to be subjected to any but got a straightforward
solution to the issues raised by the Toyota dealership.
Within 1 1/2 hours I was out of there and had my inspection
sticker; I paid more for it by not returning to the Toyota
dealership but it was worth it. I would NEVER return to
the local Toyota Dealership!

I've been going to this shop for the past 15 years. Never
been disappointed. I always get a good explanation of what's
wrong, what it needs to be fixed, how much it will cost, and
a heads up about what may need service in the future. Very
informative. Very friendly. Very high quality work. And,
maybe best of all, these people are as honest as the day is
long. Always a pleasure to do business with.

John Schier, the owner, knows his stuff; hires mechanics who know their stuff
and is honest in his dealings with customers. This win-win combination is hard
to come by and the reason I will go out of my way to bring my car the Car Works
for any future repairs necessary.

John and his staff have always been friendly, professional
and gone out of their way to help. Since moving to the area
in 1995, he has been our go-to guy for problems with our
various family vehicles. It's refreshing to know there is a
shop nearby that we have complete confidence in, and where
we'll be greeted on a first-name basis.

I've been going to Carworks since 1984, sometimes commuting
over 1/2 hour to get there. John and his staff have been
consistently honest and reliable. The work gets done right
and only the necessary work gets done. From junkers to new
vehicles, they do it all. He'll do dealer scheduled
maintenance at WAY less than what a dealer will charge.
Carworks is THE best!

John is the BEST!. I started with him back in 1986 and I'll be with him until one of us dies, you first John!. In fact that's my Benz on his web page. This story is typiacl... My daughter owns a 2005 Mazda MPV. 2 years ago she had a shop in Conneticutt diagnos her skip as a rendom miss-fire on #5. $900 later it was still skipping and they wanted her to replace the main computer for about $2500 more. When she came to NH for a visit, I took it to John late on a Friday (short notice) and explained the history. The following Monday I showed up at the shop in the afternoon and it was fixed for under $150. John recalled an earlier experience with Mazda, where the cylinder numbering in the mechanics bible was wrong. The bible had #5 in back close to the fire wall which is incorrect. #5 is in the front close to the radiator. The coil change was a snap. Maintenace on my daughter's MPV will be coordinated with her visits to NH.

The good car mechanics you miss when you moved on...I moved from NH to VA and now I feel so bad that no trustable mechanics around can figure out my car problems. Versus John, who always figure out my problems the first time, fix them the first time, and the problem never comes back.
I feel like driving 9 hours taking my car back to John to beg him fix it for me now. So sad...
