I do lots of work on my own car, including some fairly advanced repairs like (attempted) transformations from automatic to standard, and engine replacements. However, I frequently run into problems, and they were always helpful when I called. (they got even nicer and more helpful the more I called) Also, they do sell some parts, which they get in a timely manner (the price is sometimes a little high, but you almost always get the right part the first time, which can be a problem with older VW and Audi cars), and thier work rate (42.??/hr as of Jan 1, 1999 for general repairs (I wouldn't quote me on that)) is pretty good. I said above that they aren't located near public transportation, but they do have some cars available for people who need to drop thier cars off and got to work or something. I'm not sure exactly how it works though.

I had my 86 vw vanagon towed to Shipee's from another garage that was telling me I had to replace the automatic transmission. At Shipee's they quickly found that the vent was clogged and unclogged it saving me, I don't know 1800 bucks! I took my car back there for the next five months until I moved away. Here is what is great about them: Anita takes care of customer service. She actually takes classes in auto mechanic customer service and she's really good. She takes down the information about what's wrong with the car and gets back to you to you with what needs to be done and an itemised estimate. Rather than a scribbled illegible receipt at the end of the job, you get a print out, clearly organised as to what were the complaints, what was done and further recommendations. The charges are easy to follow and Anita will explain anything you don't understand or pass you on to a mechanic if necessary. It is the first garage that I have felt really good about as a woman because they actually want you to know how to take care of your car. They have loaner cars available if you need one. And my car has been in very good shape since they started taking care of it. They are worth the drive.

No service is inexpensive but theirs is alot less than the dealers. Explain things well, don't overcharge and have loaner cars. Also willing to obtain used parts where applicable to save $$$$.

I've been a customer since 2003. I bring my cars here, and don't worry about a thing. Customer service is outstanding, with "not a problem" the usual response from Anita to anything I request, even the odd ones. They missed something the first time once, but made it right the second time around and didn't charge extra. They go the extra distance to do things like find appropriate used parts. I've got 176K on my Audi A4 and it drives better than many new cars thanks to Shippee. When I bought a new Toyota last year I was thrilled to find they'd work on it too. Can't say enough good things about Shippee.
