I brought my Saab 900 in for repairs since it was running poorly. I expected it would need extensive work since it was doing all sorts of strange things. The check engine and was on and the upshift light was flickering...very wierd. Also the car would hesitate when accelerating and start hard. Gary told me he would check it out. I expected the worst. When I returned to pick up the car, I was amazed. I had been charged only $19.00 for a half hours labor and sent on my way. It turned out that there was a bad connection on the throttle position switch, whatever that is, and the problem was corrected. I would or could have paid possibly ten times that and been happy (I definetly would have at Gary Blake Saab in Exeter!). Gary could have overcharged me but he didn't. I realize now that there are honest mechanics out there, you just have to find one. I strongly reccommend Foreign Motors of Durham. You can count on them being trustworthy and competent. I no longer go in asking for written estimates, because I know I won't get ripped off, the $19.00 bill assures me of that.

Very impressed by their honesty. Had to replace a part in my
Audi A4. The dealer wanted $700 for the job. They helped me
find a used part at my request and completed the job for
$260. Everything works great. I will definitely be going back.

Gary is a great mechanic. Though he can be a bit brusk at
times at his heart he is a very good egg. They do great
honest work and look out for the customer. If you ever need
a volvo worked on in this area he is the guy to see

Gary, the owner, enjoys working on Jaguars and that is hard
to find in any repair shop in my area. He, or his Jag
specialist, fix the problem and in the proper manner.

We have taken a VW, Volvo, & SAAB to Gary. He always fixes
them at a reasonable price in a respectable amount of time.
If he is too busy to work on something, he'll tell us, and
if it is something urgent, he will find a way to fit it in.
Gary may appear gruff at times, but he has treated my
husband and me fairly, respectfully, and honestly. Given
his training with Peugeots (oh I wish those were still sold
in the US) and other foreign cars, and his incredibly high
integrity quotient, I highly recommend him to anyone.

Gary always tells me not to waste money doing repairs only in order to get the
check engine light to go off. Any other auto shop would be delighted to take my
money on whatever minor equipment repair or replacement would be required to
get the light turned back off.
