BEING A SINGLE FEMALE, I HAVE WALKED IN AND SAID THOSE MOST DANGEROUS OF WORDS,"I THINK IT'S SOMETHING EXPENSIVE." WHEN THE BILL CAME OUT TO LESS THAN $50 DOLLARS, I KNEW HE HAD TO BE HONEST! MY WHOLE FAMILY HAS USED RANDY FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS, THROUGH LEMONS AND ALSO THE "GOOD" CARS; WE'VE NEVER BEEN UNHAPPY! I REALLY TRUST RANDY AND HIS CREW, THEY ARE EXTREMELY HONEST!

My entire family has dealt with Randy for more than 10 years.I feel so confident with his shop that I tell him not to call with an estimate-just fix the problem. He has an excellent reputation with many elderly members of my Church. A co-worker of my wife went in with what she reported were major air conditioning problems- her bill was $7+ (fuse).

When Randy started his business, I operated a nearby electronics store and quickly learned to trust his advice. Because of my former business's proximity to his origional shop(which was at the end of a strip mall back in the 1980's) I had occasion to talk to many of his customers who would stroll into my store while Randy worked on their cars. I became accustomed to hearing good things about how straightforward and especially honest young Randy was. Well, since I generally prefer to do maintenance on my own cars, I didn't utilize Randy's service as much as most people in need of an honest mechanic would, once they are fortunate enough find one.Randy did advised me (without charge) on several occasions and saved me plenty. I haven't seen Randy much in the years since I moved on to other ventures, but from time to time I still hear when someone else has the good fortune to find him to keep their wheels turning. I stumbled upon this website accidentally while looking for parts for an old jeep I am restoring and curiosity about those nuts on car talk (on the radio) had me poking around a bit. When I noticed Randy's business being favorably reviewed by another, I felt compelled to add my two cents worth. Randy has earned his reputation as an honest and talented mechanic and I wish him well in his new location.

I liked Randy's at first and thought I found a place that
could handle my car. They have friendly people and I never
felt overcharged. However, after the last two repairs on
two different cars I will not return. I paid for a full
brake service that never worked. I returned three times and
they were nice and kept putting on new pads and repairing
but within days my car sounded like it needed new brakes
again. I finally gave up and went to the dealer and never
had a single problem after that. The dealer tells me that
the shop had put the wrong pads on the car. I don't know
who was right or wrong all I can say is that one trip to
the dealer and it was fixed. Around the same time we took
a truck in for new shocks and now they constantly squeak.
We returned twice for the very annoying squeak and they
lubricated but the squeak comes back. Both of these were
expensive jobs for me and I was disastified that I had to
keep going back. They were nice when I returned but the
bottom line is that it was never fixed.
I would say that Randy's is good for an oil change or a
small repair but I would say go somewhere else for bigger
jobs.

I had just moved to Wilmington from out of state and my
brakes were making a funny noise. I brought the car in to
Randy's and they looked it over. The told me it was just
because the brakes were new, and they didn't charge me.
The shop is very clean. Melanie, who I believe is Randy's
wife, handles the desk. She is very nice and great to deal with.

Randy's is definitely the place to take your domestic car.
I can't say the mechanics are very knowledgeable on foreign
cars, unless the problem is very minor. I took in my '94
Honda Accord because the car broke down. The problem was
mis-diagnosed, and the car died once again as I was driving
it out from Randy's. I am very satisfied with Randy's
response to the situation. Randy was very honest and came
out himself to apologize and explain he couldn't figure out
the problem. I was given a full refund, and they even towed
the car for free to a Honda specialist. It turned out the
car had a bad computer. I feel confident, had this been an
American-made car, Randy would have been able to figure out
and solve the problem. Customer service is excellent. If
this place were closer to where I live, I would take my car
there regularly for routine maintenance.
