I highly recommend Randy Jensen and his repair shop,
Motorworks. Randy is located at 1720 Spring Garden Street
in Greensboro, NC. His phone number is 336-272-2585.
He mainly works on Mercedes, although he does work on
other European cars and, I understand, some Japanese cars.
Not only have I saved a lot of money by taking my car to
Randy, my car always runs perfectly when Randy fixes it.
I cannot remember him having to re-do anything, but if he
needed to, he would. His motto is "I won't sell you
anything you don't need, but I won't let you drive an
unsafe car."
Randy's labor rate is really not a great deal lower than
the rate at Mercedes' dealerships in the area. However,
he has years of experience, including supervising nine
other mechanics, before becoming self-employed and it is
only fair to pay for good experience. You save money with
Randy because he does not try to sell you all the stuff
that the dealership says you need and then you find out
that Randy fixes the problem and does not have to do near
what the dealership claimed needed to be done.
I am not your typical Mercedes Benz owner. I was given a
brand new 1999 230C Kompressor by a rich relative in May
of 1999. I live in a small apartment two blocks from
Randy's shop. When I went to start my car one day, the
battery was dead (it had not been replaced in six years
and I use lots of air conditioning and cd playing). I did
not want to have to pay to have the car towed two blocks
to have the battery replaced. Randy told me not to worry
about it and came by my apartment on his way home from
work and replaced the battery at no extra charge! In
addition, Randy had a loaner (Mercedes), up until
recently, that I loved because he had kept it running in
good shape for over 400,000 miles. I fell in love
with "Old Blacky", and was sorry when Randy finally got
another loaner. I think you have to be a pretty good
mechanic to keep ANY car going for over 400,000 miles.
Randy stays busy but he is always happy to have new
customers. Most of the time I see him, he is working on
Mercedes and I think he knows more about them than the
manufacturer. In addition, Randy answers lots of other
questions I have at times, like do I really have to buy
premium gasoline, should I drive a little further on a
flat tire and so forth. He ALWAYS GIVES ME a perfect
answer and I have complete confidence in him.
