Phil fixed a transmission problem for $200 that a dealership would have charged $700 for. He always takes time to explain the repair in great detail and doesn't talk down to you as if you can't possibly understand (unlike many mechanics I've dealt with). I've never had the sense that he's trying to sell an unneeded repair, nor does he offer pat answers for problems that may be more complicated. Last but not least, Phil treats female and male customers with equal respect. Quick story: One time, I accidentally slammed my thumb in my car door at Wasp. The mechanics were very helpful in bringing ice and a towel and checking up on me as I waited for the swelling to go down. I couldn't believe they were so concerned!

Amazing experience working with these guys. Compared to some of the shops, where the mechanic does not even allow you onto the shop floor, Pete (the owner) showed me the specific problem on the car, and explained what he planned to do in considerable detail. When I had further questions, he pulled out some illustrations to help me understand what was happening, and then took me to another car that was being repaired to explain the problem in more detail. Great lounge and waiting area as well. A really pleasant experience overall.

Phil does a very good job and some really heavy lifting. It amazes what he can do in a day. Highly recommend their service, prices.

Truly amazing. I had to move across country just about a month ago and begged Pete and the gang to come along. I had several problems as a result of awful service in other shops in Durham, and Pete not only fixed them all, but also spoke to me clear and concisely about each problem, treated me incredibly fairly, AND I didn't have to take out a loan to pay for it all. I like and trust them so much that when my friend came in from out of town and needed an oil change, I took her to Wasp Automotive. From the service, to the expertise, and the waiting room to the landscape architecture, it will be really hard to beat Wasp anywhere in the COUNTRY.

WASP is one of those outstanding organizations that deserves more credit than a mere web review can offer. Sadly, a highway expansion project forced WASP to close their Durham shop, making it very difficult for me to use them now. The best thing about these guys is that they simply will not do an unnecessary repair or a repair that's more costly than it needs to be. Sure, when my 10-year-old Toyota truck needed a new clutch this set me back a few buckaroos. But on several occasions a mysterious or nagging problem with this same vehicle was fixed with a $5 dollar part that took too little time to replace for them to bother to charge me labor.

Helped me settle a problem with damage to my car caused by a big automotive care company. Gave me an honest opinion and was very helpful during the process of selecting a used car as a replacement. Very friendly and competent, will do all my automotive work here from now on.
