We've been taking our Toyota vehicles to Phil's shop since 1985. Phil and the mechanics he employs have always been very direct and honest with us about what our cars need or don't need. There have been times where we took a car in and they were very good about telling us that we didn't really need the service that we asked them to perform -- that the car was doing well enough without it. Phil's shop is very good about letting us know how long a particular repair is going to take and they have gotten work done by the requested time every time. Phil's team have helped us keep our 1985 Toyota Corolla in good shape from the time we got it. We now have 196,000 miles on the car and it's still running great. Phil has also been willing to talk to me and give me guidance about repairs I was making at home. One time when I was out of town on a trip -- the alternator failed and they provided me with advice about how to approach the problem. We've been very happy with the service that we've received from Phil and his team.

Has worked only on Toyotas for over 20 years. (and an occasional Lexus) Has worked on our 4 Camrys for the last 7 years. Currently on US 64 West, just beyond NC 751, but will be relocating to E. Chatham St., Cary, in March 2000. I continue to buy Toyotas because they are very good, and I have a great mechanic.

This is by far the best Toyota dedicated service provider in the area. I've tried all the dealers, and they don't even come close. This is no discount service station, but they explain what needs to be done, get it right, and it is rare to need a follow-up or have issues. On a few occasions, they've done quick fixes in the parking lot and not even charged me. They've also done simpler, less expensive (i.e. honest) repairs than our local dealer who has often tried to expand service well beyond what needs to be done.

Until I brought in my 2000 Toyota Tundra to Phil's Toy Store, I had lived without an honest and reliable mechanic for years. My truck was running rough and I thought it was related to radiator work I had done 2 years ago. Once Wayne looked it over, he was able to determine that the radiator was fine; it was, in fact, water in my gas tank (I don't drive my truck often these days),which had caused trickle- down effects. Throughout the entire repair process, he kept me updated on the progress they had made, calling me 1-2x a day with updates on the repair and what they wanted to do next. Unlike other mechanics I have been to, he took the time to test drive my truck before and after repairs, to make sure he had properly diagnosed and fixed the problem. In fact, with my permission, he drove it home so that he wouldn't have to charge me the time he spent driving it around. He was very thorough at trying to keep the final costs as low as possible. After the repairs, he told me my truck was as good as new, and he was right! It runs when I first purchased it! I highly recommend him and the shop, and plan to bring my truck back there for future maintenance and repairs!

I let these folks do all the work on my Toyota Corolla for several years. When the problem solution was obvious, they did a good job. They answered any questions I had and were very helpful. But as my car got older, they were not as good. Twice I had to bring the car back in to have them connect or fix something they had missed. And these repairs averaged about a $1000 each, so I thought maybe they should have got it right the first time. One time I was left with a steaming radiator in Burger King parking lot. The second time they replaced my front struts, but failed to notice the squeak I brought it in to fix was due to a ball joint. Jeez, this isn't rocket science. In short, I decided to sell my Corolla because it was just too hard to work with these guys to keep me on the road. I'm sure that have some good mechanics there, but it seems like my car always got the rookie.
