In 1997 I wrote review #6783. Since that time, they have
expended their repair work to work on cars other than
Nissan, and have done the same high quality work on my
Subaru and my wife's Toyota. I still refuse to take either
of our cars anywhere else, and most highly recommend them
to anyone who has a Japanese car, and if the work is not
too "Brand Specific" to an american car, I would check with
them first with any car that I have and tell all my friends
regardless of the vehicle that they drive, to first check
here to see if they can do the work.

Having seen Franklin listed on your site, I took my 92
Nissan Sentra there when I began hearing a rattling sound
associated with acceleration and sustained highway speeds.
After a thorough test drive to duplicate the noise, they
correctly diagnosed a rusted-out exhaust pipe clamp just
forward of the muffler.
"Can't you fix it?" I pleaded. "Don't send me to that
[national chain] muffler shop."
They recommended a mom & pop muffler shop nearby ("because
they'll have the right clamps"), phoned the shop to make
certain they had the parts, and told them I would be over.
The shop they sent me to charged exactly what they said
they would--a few bucks for a new clamp.
When I offered to pay for the road test and diagnosis,
Franklin refused to take anything, even a token amount of
coffee and donut money. "Come back when you need something
fixed," they said, and bid me a nice day.
And a nice day it was.

I have been to Franklin Specialists on several occasions.
They always fixed my vehicles right, the first time. I have
had major and minor work done by them. I would highly
recommend them to anyone with a Nissan or Infinity. I went
in thinking the worst, and, figured on a high bill. I was
pleasantly surprised to find great service, people that knew
what they were doing, and, only charged a fair rate for
repairs, (unlike some other places I used to go). For me,
Franklin Specialists is the only place I take my cars. Some
times, they even knew what the problems were, just, by
describing it to them over the phone. They kept my 1984
Maxima, and I, happy for years.

I trust them completely and have never been disappointed in
their service. I would not trust my car to anyone else.

I started taking my 15+ year old Nissan to Franklin Specialists after reading reviews on Cartalk about 6 years ago. It's a bit surprising to see that there hasn't been any new reviews since then. So I want to say that this has been a great place to take my car.
First you should know that Franklin Specialists primarily works on Nissan & Infiniti models and they are definitely experts at what they do. Unlike car dealerships and national car repair places, there's no fancy lobby or salesmanship. Instead, when you step inside you can tell you're inside a mechanic's shop, and what you do get is honest knowledgeable service at a fair price. Depending on the repair, I've always been charged for 30 to 90 minutes of labor plus parts...usually much less than estimates other places.
More importantly, they will only suggest repairs if you really need them, and let you know if you can hold out on repairs. When my muffler went out, they even recommended another shop that specializes in them and could do the work at a cheaper price.
Honestly my car has never needed major repairs (engine, transmission, etc) so I can't speak to how they do on these repairs (though I would trust with these repairs). But for the minor repairs (lights, brakes, belts, etc) I have needed, this is by far the best place to get those done. So if you live in the St. Louis metro area, and have a Nissan or Infiniti this is the only place you should take your car.
