Our Volvo S70 has needed regular maintenance over the last couple of years (like the 105k service) and has also had some issues that were hard to track down (faulty ignition coil). Auto Evaluators has always been honest (including admitting they didn't know what was wrong in the early days of diagnosing the faulty ignition coil). Just recently, they stood behind their work and replaced two brake calipers at no charge when they started leaking less than a year after they installed them. They got the car into the shop immediately when I called them about the issue (which came up because of a safety inspection) and had the calipers replaced the next day. They aren't cheap, but they do good work and they treat us honestly and fairly.

We've had Auto Evaluators take care of our extremely trouble-prone 1998 V70 AWD, which we have since sold, and our current 2006 V70. In fact, we bought the second Volvo, in part, because we knew that we had a reliable repair shop in Auto Evaluators that would treat us much better than our local dealer and cost much less. AE's owners have gone out of their way to keep our cars going, explaining what they were doing and presenting us with options when they could. Our car is fixed on time and right; I have never had to return to have something re-repaired. We have been using them since 2004. No hesitation recommending them to anyone.

Trying to avoid the dealer, we took our car there a few times. They weren't incompetent, but they were slow and expensive. They never did figure out why the check engine light was on, but they did charge us plenty to read it. Did some repairs we later found out were on recall from the manufacturer. Now, I agree that it's ultimately our fault for not having realized this, but the shop we take our other car to (only works on Toyotas and Hondas) would have told us. They are (barely) cheaper than the dealer, and they aren't the worst mechanics I've ever used, just not really great...
