This guy is great. He has a sense of humor (he calls his lower-level shop the bat cave) and never talks down to his customers, male or female. He makes appointments with his customers...and keeps them! He is very patient with my old, stinky, cranky Audi and I am sure that the car would no longer be alive were it not for Gary.

Gary is intelligent, experienced and impecably honest, in other words, the perfect mechanic. It impresses me that he uses an internet network of mechanics to help him solve tough diagnostic problems.

I am a biased customer because I met Gary before he became my mechanic although we are more acquaintances than friends. But he has worked on my car four times. He fixed every problem, although it took two tries the first time. He is gracious and explains everything clearly showing me the damaged parts. I might be able to find a cheaper mechanic, but I think that he is fair and very honest and very good at what he does. I highly recommend him. His shop is near the bus line on Main Street.

Very personable and friendly. I highly recommend him. I am a single woman in midtown and it's important to find services you really trust in this innercity area!

Gary is sooo reliable. Before I leave for an extended trip I make sure that Gary gives each auto a "trip check." He is always on target with any repair or remaining pad thickness on brakes or engine fluid needs. He always gives a thorough examination and always a thorough estimate. Once I busted out the window of my Plymouth mini van 1993 vintage. I didn't know if it would be better to replace the window or replace the entire door. Then Gary took over the project getting estimates from the auto salvage shops and negotiating the man power for the replacement whether door or window. Of course Gary asked about the aesthetic agreement, in other words, he wondered if replacement door if it would matter on color or style. Then he followed up each alternative with a telephone call with further questions. Finally, the best solution was to replace the entire door. He worked it out entirely and for such a reasonable price. Selfishly, I wonder if my recommendation will come back to haunt me. I would be hard pressed to find any other repair shop that graciously gives such wonderful and complete service. In 2003 I bought a MINI Cooper. After the maintainance warrantee expired I rushed my MINI to Gary for maintainance and repairs if needed. He is a gem for sure. Although Gary doesn't loan rental cars his shop is not even a block from Main & 37th Street. I've often hopped on the city bus to pick up either car particularly in bad weather. When sunny and pleasant I ride my bicycle to his shop or home.

Gary seems like a very honest guy, and always explains charges up front, why he thinks work should be done, and the pros and cons of waiting or doing it now. He's officially closed on Fridays, but will often answer the phone or be in his shop. He can be very busy, so sometimes there's a day or two wait before you get your car fixed. His shop is right off Main street, so bus access is easy if you can do that. We had a problem with our car stalling, and he recommended a bunch of work (clean the throttle body was one) that ended up doing nothing. He was probably doing his best, but another mechanic was able to look at the car on shorter notice and solved the problem.

I was trying to pass the Missouri safety test so that my car could get tags. Gary took the time to check my car before I had to pay for a test (which I would of failed). He treats me the same as my husband and takes the time to explain every detail of my car when it is going wrong. He takes time out of his busy load to check your car right then if you have a time crunch. And he is honest when it is only a minor problem, never charging you for false charges. He has been recommended to us by some other friends who live in mid-town and he will recommend you to a body shop you can trust or tire shop if you need that work done. He doesn't charge for advice, which really is a gift when you don't know what is wrong and need a second opinion. He saved us from spending around $600 at the Nission dealership, which told us we needed a new windshield to pass the MO safety test (this was bogus, and Gary knew it and warned us)! He could have just offered us a cheaper deal but he wasn't about to be so dishonest!

A nice guy who really wants to make sure your car is serviced properly the first time. He doesn't try to talk you into having other work done on the car as some other mechanics do. He is honest, helpful and very knowledgeable.
