I took my car here after getting a number of recommendations
for a good mechanic to do manual transmission work. The
Toyota dealership I first went to had diagnosed a
transmission problem and quoted me a little more than $4,000
to replace it. That seemed astronomical, so I began to look
around for a better option, and Certified Transmission was
highly recommended by everyone I talked with, and in all
reviews I found on the internet.
Certified made an appt for me, confirmed the diagnosis, and
gave me a quote that was about $1,500 less than the
dealership. They also told me that the clutch, while not
completely gone, would be cheaper to replace at the same
time. Since a good friend had given me the same advice, I
decided to have both things worked on. The total amount--
which included a new clutch--was about $1,250 less than the
dealership.
As a woman, I was especially pleased at how well I was
treated. I had done my research before going in, including a
crash course on what a transmission was from my mechanical
friends, so I had a pretty good idea that the owner was
being straight with me. His diagnosis confirmed what I had found on the internet about my particular model of car--a
problem others had had with this car. He was very reassuring
about the repair work and that my car was worth the cost. It
now runs as well as it did when it was new, and the clutch
works great (and I can tell how bad the old one was because
this one is so much better!). They even offer a free 2-week
review to make any necessary adjustments, so I took it in
this morning to have that done. I was very pleased with the
work done on my car. I am confident I will get many more
years of road trips out of it. I highly recommend them!
