The folks at Machens Toyota treat both my husband and I respectfully. They take time to explain the problem (like showing me how to check and fill the automatic transmission fluid). If they don't find anything wrong, they tell us (no unnecessary repairs). Even when they do find something, they will tell us whether or not it needs to be fixed or can we just live with the problem. The shuttle service is fast and friendly. I can't say anything bad about them.

I like to take my Toyotas to these guys. They are courteous, do good work, get it done in a timely manner and call you to tell you what repairs are needed before they do the work or to let you know the work is complete and your car is ready for pick up. They also call several days later to see if you are satisfied with the repair work. They may be higher priced than independent shops, but since Toyotas need so little repair it is worth it to have it done right when you need it.

I have used the mechanics here for my various Toyota since 2000. They provide a printed checklist of items inspected and the status (tire condition, brakes, fluids etc) along with the receipt for whatever specific work they have done. Often an advisor will come speak with the customer and several times, what he told me did not match what was on the checklist leaving me to wonder if the items were actually inspected or the mechanic just checked the boxes on the form or if I was just being given a sales job. Last year the advisor came to me and told me my brakes needed replaced and NOW. I knew their checklist indicated nothing but excellent for brake condition 5000 miles ago for the previous oil change. I also know my driving habits and it would have been unusual for them to have worn already. When I asked how my brakes could have gone from excellent to replace ASAP, I was told that these thing just happen. I insisted that couldn't be and, really, should I believe the checklist or what I was being told face to face. After much discussion, the advisor checked with the mechanic. The advisor reported back that they hadn't actually inspected the brakes but thought it was "about time" and I should consider replacing them soon. Move forward one year and about 20,000 miles.....I had my tires rotated at another shop and remembered to ask them to inspect the brakes so I could asses timing of replacement. Their inspection indicated my brakes still had half their life in them and would be serviceable for plenty more miles. My trust in Joe Machen Toyota is greatly eroded. I have not had problems with work they have done but this was a blatant example of trying to sell me something I did not need.
